I have a rabbit (Meadow) and her currently 3 week old babies (River and Briar) now I was highly considering keeping the babies, will I be able to keep them with mom (mom is getting fixed soon)? as soon as I can sex them (still pretty young its hard to tell) I will separate as needed till I can get them fixed… (I think that like 4-6 months?) any feed back or advice on this situation? id like to see a successful trio out of this if possible (I know things can change so if not I will change plans)

          Things to consider first.

Do you have space for 4 rabbits? Minimum space for 1 is 2 x 6 feet cage with access to an 8 foot pen.
Can you afford all of the neutering costs?
Do you have spear space should a fall out happen?

The mother would need spaying as soon as her milk dries up, but I would take her to the vet for a cross check about that. I am awaiting my doe’s milk to dry before spaying her. They should be ok living together up until 3 months when the males will get hormonal and start humping annoying the females. Females need spaying at 6 months. So to have a few sear caged may be needed just in case.

I have plenty of room they have quite large pens (basically a whole room) that I have sectioned off. I have one bonded pair already in their pen (happily spoiled) and I’m working on making the mom and babies pen larger to accommodate 3 ( and I have back up pens if all should fall through) and yes I can afford all the neutering/spaying (one of those things I considered when I decided to keep them) and I already took mom to the vet, so as soon as she’s ready she can get scheduled.

So I can keep them together till 3 months (with out risk of more babies?) and how old can I get a male neutered?

You might want to keep them separated starting at 8 weeks, not just because of the humping, but any potential aggression. My boys got into a tussle at 11 weeks. Because you’re obviously not going to be with them 24/7 you might not be there to stop a scuffle from occurring. That’s why I’d suggest 8 weeks. Also because obviously risk of more babies.
My boys were both neutered at 4 months, but some vets will do it around 3 months. It honestly depends on when the testicles have dropped and the general development of the bunny.

Its good you have taken things into consideration first. Its how comfortable you feel. I personally have never had issues with family members falling out until later on when hormones start up. But others may have different experiences. I had to get Finn neutered at 2 and half months as he was very hormonal. But he lived with his unspayed sister up until 6 months when she sadly passed away. However she did start bullying him at around 5 months by fur plucking. So even if they don’t fight, un-fixed buns can bully those that are already neutered or submissive.

I would aim to separate at around 8-9 weeks, but keep them all able to see each other. Some boys can drop testicles very early, and as you know, female bunnies can get pregnant as soon as they’ve given birth.

Mum should be able to be spayed once kits are weaned. There’s loads of great advice on here about bonding
