I know this is a bunny site but I also know that many of you here have other animals as well. I am freaking out right now. One of my cats, my only girl, is a calico named Trinity. I can’t find her! I don’t understand. She is an indoor only cat. She goes outside with me occasionally but only on a leash. I know that she was in the house last night, I think I saw her this morning before I went to work, but Matt can’t find her this morning. He looked for her before he went to work and no sign of Trinity. I went home at lunch and (I only had about a half hour to look) I couldn’t find her either. I am starting to freak out. I walked around the house shaking her favorite squeaky toy which she normally comes running to and still she didn’t come out. I am starting to think that maybe she followed me out the door this morning. I did the same thing with her toy oustide though. What do I do? Has anyone ever had a cat disappear in their house?

Did she get locked in a closet maybe? Or a cupboard or something inside. I do hope you find her soon. Did you look up to see if she is hanging out up somewhere high?

I looked in all the closets and I have them open now so if I missed her in one she can get out. I am hoping that I will find her by the door when I get home. She is a very punctual cat and is ALWAYS waiting to welcome me when I get home from work. I know that they can get up between the ceiling of the basement and the floor from the first floor so maybe she went in there. I have never seen her do that before though, only my scaredy cat Bentley does. Hopefully she was watching Matt and I running around the house looking for her and thinking "stupid humans".

We had a cat Ash that had a disapearing cat. Here was his favorite hiding places. In the lower cupboards in the kitchen, linnen closet, behind the dryer and once inside the dryer, behind the entertainment center, and once he got himself tangled in the cords behind the computer. Do you have floor vets for heating or air conditining. Once coney (rabbit) got in those and I thought for sure he was going to get trapped or lost but he poked back up a few minutes later.

Oh no, I really hope you find her! Are there any holes in walls that she could have crawled into?  If she is not there, put in calls to your local animal shelters and the animal control at your local police station.  Make some flyers and put them up around the neighborhood too.  If she is used to being an indoor cat, she may not fare well if she were to cross paths with a well-seasoned outdoor or stray cat. One time I was watching my neighbors cat and was freaking out all over the place looking for her and it turns out she had crawled under the covers of a bed and stayed there no matter what favorite toys I tried to entice her with too.  Finally, after about 2 hours of looking I saw the bed covers move and there she was!

And hey, the lounge is for all conversation that is non-bunny related so feel free to post non-bunny things!

Keep us updated!! Does she have any treats where if you shake the bag she’d come running for them. I know if animals are sick, sometimes they’ll find a good hiding place and stay there.

I found her! When I got home last night I was looking outside around the house again and she was under the back porch. I heard a very pathetic meow and then she came slinking (almost belly crawling really) out from under the back porch. I am pretty sure she was scared. She was pretty dusty from being under there but other then that shes just fine. As soon as I get her inside all my boys started giving her a bath. Henri even joined in! I wish I would have gotten pictures. Thanks for the support!

I’m so glad you found her Melissa – sounds like she knew not to stray too far from home too – that’s good.

Wow, that is great that you found her!  Scary too.  Good thing she knew to stay close by.

That is so cute that Henri joined in on the grooming! Has anyone informed Henri he is not, in fact, a cat? My bunny Raymond grew up with dogs around, and he’s quite positive that he is a labrador.

I don’t think so. The people he lived with before had four cats too so he is not the least bit scared of them. He used to have four cats and four other bunnies in his house. He didn’t get much time out of his cage though and only got to interact with one other bunny on a normal basis (they were not a bonded pair though, only had limited interaction). I think the cats were his friends. Trinity grooms him too actually. The first tiem I saw it happen I almost freaked out because she grabbed his head with both of her paws. (I thought she was going to attack him) but then she just did what she does to my feline boys. . . started cleaning his head! What is the best though is when I see Henri chasing Trinity. Until Henri came around I never thought I would see a bunny chasing a cat!

That is so funny. I am to scared to let my boys around our cat. Sammy (the cat) has never shown any interest in the rabbits, I am just afraid that his hunting instincts would kick in. When Coney lived outside sammy used to sleep on top of his hutch.

Whew thank goodness! I am so glad you found her! A happy story to a panicked beginning.  Poor thing must have figured out that the outside world isn’t very indoor cat friendly.  You may want to keep an eye on her stool to make sure she didn’t get into some bad garbage and got worms and also check the skin for fleas. Give her a hug from me too! I think it is safe to say that we are all animal lovers here and we are more than happy to provide support for our fellow memebers!
