I’m trying to figure out a good floor for Caesar and Roxie. She’s a rex and she’s getting bare patches on her feet. Not sore hocks, just calloused. They have a fleece floor right now, but it doesn’t seem to be helping. I was thinking a yoga mat or some of those kids play mats that interlock. I would give her a blanket or something to sit on but they chew and use the blanket for a litter box. I have tried carpet squares in the past, but they ate them.

They will probably eat the yoga mat my rabbit scratches anything spongey and completey ruins them.
We have normal fitted carpet she doesnt eat it.
Are they only chewing yours because its carpet squares?
I have fitted bed sheets in her cage she doesn’t eat them. Do they have a litter tray?
Mine hates lino laminate floors and tiles

I would do the yoga mat/kid play mat with a fleece on top of it. Because I think your buns might rip them up, and eat some if their nails get chunks out(Moxie would too).

We’ve got some rex fosters and we luckily haven’t had any hock issues yet. They are on regular carpeted flooring, but have areas that are covered by old quilts and pillowcases with towels in them. We’ve run into similar issues with the quilt, but so far so good with the pillowcases. *fingers crossed* Whatever you figure out, let me know!

Maybe try bathroom rugs rather than carpet squares? I have a mini rex and this works for us. But I also make sure and put other things down on the floor every once in a while. Blankets, squares of cardboard, etc. It keeps him interested and I think it saves his feet.

Actually, I remember reading that memory foam bath mats with that microfibre top can be good for rexes. I’d avoid some carpets and they can be abrasive. Putting a cotton sheet over mats or carpet helps. If they’re chewers, I see your dilemma…
I’ve heard of is just creating deep lining of hay but yeah, that’ll end up as a giant toilet! Maybe something like Vet Bed?
Keeping her nails short will help, of course.

I think what we have decided to go with are those foam interlocking squares with a padded linoleum top and then a couple mats/blankets. It should be easy to clean and would be softer than the hard floors.
