My girl is about 7 months old now and she twice today has had milky/thick urine..not necessarily white, not really yellow..kind of in between like a creme colour. Is this normal? I’m reading mixed oppinons on this. It’s kind of late here so get under ahold of a vet would be impossible. I just wanna know if I should be worried or not?

I wouldn’t be too worried. What you described kind of seems normal, sediment in urine is normal. I would just monitor her urine and see if it gets thicker since you haven’t noticed this before. Place some newspaper at the bottom of her litter pan which will make it easier to monitor. I recommend looking up bladder sludge in rabbits to see what you should worry about.

It could be a start of sludge. Has her diet changed at all? Is she drinking enough? Any new medications?

Olly had this on the night he came here, I contacted someone and they said to give Olly plenty of greens and water to flush it out, I’m not sure but I think sludge is to do with too much calcium.

The key here is consistency. Is it mostly liquid or is it more like toothpaste?

LBj is right, rabbits are supposed to get rid of surplus calcium via the urine. So if the consistency is liquid, that’s just the normal workings of her body. When urine like that dries, there will be a chalky stain.

If the urine is thick, like toothpaste or very fine wet concrete, it’s not good and you should call your regular vet when they open and get an appointment. Extra water f ex by serving veggies freshly rinsed and dripping wet is good, as CA says. Hold off on high-calcium vegs like kale and parsley for now.

Rabbits’ urine should never be completely clear and colorless.

It’s sort of a mix between thicm and watery. Some of its watery and some of its thick not really like toothpaste.. not too sure how to describe it, but she pees it out in a pile that’s a mixture of thick and straight liquid. I’ve noticed she hasn’t been drinking much so I’ve been trying to get her to drink more. She eats hay like crazy, she doesn’t seem off at all, other than the pee. She’s done it twice so far!

Here are excellent pics of normal bunny urine and bladder sludge:

What type of hay is she eating? If it’s alfalfa hay you should switch to grass hay, alfalfa has lots of calcium and it’s only suitable for babies.

Check your rabbit food, some cheap bunny food has a lot of calcium in it, I’m not saying you bought cheap bunny food, you might have bought the most expensive, but check it anyway.

We feed her Timothy hay, and she eats it like crazy! The pellets we use are called ‘ Martin little friends” which we were told was Timothy based and was recommended to us by a bunny shelter. I don’t believe she’s done it since then, I’ve been checking and cleaning her cage everyday. She seems normal, eating tons of hay, drinking a bit more water but she’s still not too crazy about water. She tends to throw her hay in her water. We use a water dish in her cage because she actually drinks it more that way. I mean, she does drink a bit of water but I don’t think as much as she should be!
But her pee seems fine now and so does she. Thanks everyone for the help! I super appreciate it

It sounds like she’s a healthy bunny! A little bit of milky urine now and then is normal. It’s great that she eats lots of Timothy hay Grass hay is the most important food for a bunny.
