After we got Keelie and Kylie and our bunny-clan was up to 6 we said that’s it, definitely not getting another bunny. One bunny, two bunny, three bunny, four. Five bunny, six bunny, not getting any more!
When Reno left us to cross the bridge in January we said okay, we’re still not getting another bunny. We’ve got a full enough bunny house as it is still.
Then today, for some reason, I went looking on kijiji. I was there for something else entirely, and I’d never before looked at the pets section of it. But today I thought well, let’s have a look.
And then I saw it.
An ad from someone giving away their rabbit because she was moving. I felt I had to contact her to make sure that she really had to give him away, and to see if I could offer any advice on moving with a rabbit. She sounded like a very good bunny mom in her ad. Anyway she responded and it turns out she’s going to be moving around a lot in the next several months for work and since he hates even going to the vet in the car she can’t imagine he’d fare well being hauled around for move after move, and I can understand that. So we’ve told her that if she really can’t bring him with her, then we’d be interested in providing a home for him. We’re still waiting to hear back from her.
This is his ad:
Looks like a great opportunity..
sounds like you’d be saving that bun a lot of stress.
And of course a huge bunny loving home is a whole lot better than some shelter.
(;
I’m just so nervous! It’s like waiting to see if you’re going to be called for a job interview, lol. When we’ve adopted from the shelter it was so different from this – then they just wanted to make sure one of their animals was going to an okay home. Here she’s having to give up a bunny she loves and she’ll be wanting to make sure he goes to as perfect a home as possible. It must be very difficult.
I keep checking my email to see if there’s been any response yet!

How could she not want him to go to your bunny family?! Carbun – how cute! When I scrolled down and saw his fur colour….I thought ” Yep, Reno is pulling the strings on this one!”
Keep us posted!
What a cute bun! I wish she could figure out a way to keep him. It sounds like she’s provided him with everything he needs (some of the diet things made me cringe, but… it’s better than what most people give.)
If she still feels she cannot keep him, your home is definitely the place to go!
Hi all, Scooter here. Carbun’s owner responded to our email expressing an interest in bringing him by to see the place. She’ll be by tonight.
If she feels it’s a good home, we could make arrangements to take him for good, or she could just leave him here. She seems quite impressed by our bunnies…we told her that we are regulars on binkybunny, have bunspace profiles for everyone, and gave her a URL to a photobucket site with photos of our gang and their living arrangements s257.photobucket.com/albums/hh239/scooterandannette/bunnies/ So she will be by at 6:30, and we may have Carbun tonite!
We will, of course, leave it up to the owner to decide if she wants to leave Carbun with us tonite (if at all), or if she wants some time to say goodbye and bring him by later. We’ve also decided that we’ll offer to let her keep in touch with Carbun, although I’m of mixed minds about that, as a clean break might be best. Of course, she already knows we are on binkybunny so she could always check up with him there, should he wind up with us.
She’d be crazy not to leave him with you!!!!
Too cute! She would be crazy not to let you adopt him!
I too think a clean break is best, perhaps a parting photo of her bun and that’s it. I would feel real weird about visits, but maybe that’s just me.![]()
Oooo! before I wasn’t able to see the ad, and now I can lol..
Carbun is soo cute! It sounds like she really loves this rabbit and knows her stuff.
There’s no way she’d be able to find a better bunny home then yours.
Well we met this afternoon – she came over and had a look around and was able to meet all the various 4legged inhabitants. He hopped around the dining room and livingroom, Tegan and Aeryn came rushing over to the side of their enclosure and were just desperate to see the cute little guy. He went nose to nose with the cats. Didn’t care about the dog. And then he flopped. We all kind of took that as a sign that he was pretty comfortable here. So she’s left him here, and he’s now part of the family. I’ve taken some pictures of him that I’ll post shortly. He’s such a little thing, very cute, and very curious about everything.

Scooter here. I definitely see your points, Scarlet Rose. Carbun’s previous owner is moving well out of driving range, so she’s not likely to pop by. We did tell her prior to their arrival that we were on binkybunny, and noted that she could always get some idea of what his life would be like, if she wishes, through the forums here. So she’s likely lurking or even posting.
She did do some research on us ahead of time, and probably looked up a lot of our old binkybunny posts. I wouldn’t be surprised if she also did some google-searching either. Those were actually some of the reasons she had for letting us have Carbun. She felt quite comfortable from all that, and her visit with us, that Carbun would have a good home. And a lot of friends.
In the meantime, he’s trying to get used to his new cage, which is new because he was a free-range bunny before, but we can’t do that. We have him housed in Bailey’s original cage until we can get him bonded with one or both of the other sets, then he’ll move in with them. He is VERY big on head rubs, and is eating already which is always a good sign.
