I was finally able to clip Merry’s nails tonight – and when I started on her rear right paw, I noticed that the inner nail (the thumb I guess!) was completely gone!  The area’s pink – she didn’t have pain when I touched it…. but here’s my fear.  About two weeks ago I noticed a streak of blood on her ear but for the life of my I couldn’t figure out where it came from – and believe me I checked everything! (except her nails)  Now it makes sense that it was probably the nail, and the blood was from scratching her ear.

So, given that this thing has been gone for probably two weeks, and hasn’t been treated – do I wait until Monday to go to my vet (I’ve already left a message at her office), or do I got to the emergency clinic (they say they treat rabbits but I don’t know anything about them except it would cost $156 just to see her).

Some more info – she’s acting fine, running, jumping, showing no pain while walking, etc…

Any advice, my lagomorph loving friends???

I would think waiting til Monday would be fine, being as she isn’t doing anything out of her norm

Okay, good – that’s what my plan was, but I needed some peace of mind. I don’t want to hurt my little baby!

I think you can wait until morning (tomorrow’s monday). It sounds healed over for the most part, since the fresh blood was 2 weeks ago.
Give us an update when you’re back from the vet.

                  Merry’s okay!!!!!!!!!
She’s actually better than okay – no infection on the nail, weight’s down, all systems check out good. But best news yet, no need for a molar trim! She used to get them done every 3 months – she’s hasn’t had one since August and the doc doesn’t think it’s going to be a problem for a while!

                  *binkies!*
