Ok, I guess two topics here!

First I got this email today, typical format of urban legend/chain letters warning you about stupid stuff that isn’t true and two minutes with google will solve.

HOWEVER this one is real, so I need to warn you all. Content to follow-BUT how many of you are with me and have the pet peeve of those emails circulating around that once you think about it don’t make sense, and actually could put someone in danger by giving false information they could use in an emergency situation (like buttons to push on your cell or things that work on your car)??? They drive me batty!!

So please SHARE some of the most ridiculous urban legends you’ve been told or forwarded!!

NOW on to the real warning.

Melamine is being put into many dairy products in China (see it doesn’t even sound believable) and is causing liver/kidney failure-even in babies.

My “favorite” Melamine story is about the Milk Chocolate body paint that had to be pulled from stores in England. Poor Brits having to return sex toys!
I heard about it on the BBC – a pretty reliable source.

            Oh wow!!

I always get these silly urban legends forwarded, like this…Hair elastics being made with used condoms and spreading stds….the don’t buy gas on this day from this gas station….the guy who sprays perfume that turns out to be chloroform in the parking lot…the dial this number on your cell if your driving and someone is trying to pull you over, it connects you immediately with dispatch-
you know all those unbelievable ones.

I have to share I was rolling (I mean *ROLLING*) over my parents the other day, I flashed my brights at someone who didn’t have their lights on at night and they told me not to do that because gangs were driving around without their lights on and killing whoever flashed their lights at them as initiation…OMG that’s an old one!! They SWORE up and down that their friends friends son had died that way recently…LMAO

They want you to notify them of those stupid urban legend lies email. When my Mom sends something I usually just delete the stupid thing. I don’t even open them.

Warning virus warning spider on the toilet seat.  Uh yeah right uh.   I get so sick of those things. Yeah and the one about needles with LSD on the gas pump handles   where do people dream this stuff up.  They must really have nothing to do.

The whole melamine issue in China is huge, and it’s been going on for a while now…as in a few years but China obviously has a bad track record in informing people of serious issues happening there (Think SARS, and AIDS).

I know that it would have to be a whopping amount to hurt an adult, but it accumulates in your body & who knows what sort of other nasties could be in the food China exports especially if it’s in the domestic food! I doubt any studies have been carried out to determine the long term effect of melamine in the body but something used in plastic manufacturing cannot be good for humans!
