I took the Medusa-nator to the animal chiropractor today to have her uneven face evaluated. The local rescue group does not really endorse chiropractic, but being a patient of chiropractic myself I’m a strong believer that every living being needs to see one. So I found one that has experience with rabbits and owns a rabbit herself in Huntington Beach.
Medusa’s cranium is fine but the issue appears to be with her jaws. She has muscle tension in her right shoulder and right jaw, right neck was also out (Medusa’s face is also smaller and eye is smaller on that side). She did some traction, adjustments, stretching. She’s going to do some research on rabbit jaw issues, though she feels it could be due to the fact that her 2 jawbones are different shape, might be genetically deformed or result of an injury. At least her skull is fine, since that’s what most rabbits have to see the chiro for.
I’m bringing her back next week. In the meantime I’m supposed to watch for improvement of the irritation/ wetness of her right eye.
(Memo: Re. this issue the vet thought that there was just muscle atrophy on the left side and that it was fine as long as she’s eating right).
Next time I will take pix because the expression on Medusa’s face during some of the stretching was too funny.
