I told Shaina about Drue today, figuring she could get excited with me.  I was hesitant to say anything until we knew for sure that the times would work out.  Well, Gavin heard me so I told him to.  He said “we going today to get him?” and I said “no next week” and he started bawling.  I thought he was upset that he had to wait but he doesn’t normally act like that and he was so upset that he could barely breath.   I hugged him and finally got him calmed down enough to tell me what was wrong.  He said “I gonna miss Tucker”.  Aack!  He thought that we were getting Drue to replace Tucker!!!  I had to tell him I think 6 times that we were keeping Tucker and that this was just going to be ANOTHER bunny and finally he calmed down.  Man!  Me and my big mouth!  Now I bet he freaks out when we drop her at my mom’s to stay while we’re gone!!

we did not say a word to Michael. he went over my parents during our road trip to go get Max. we brought Max home, set him up temporarily in the Marchioro cage in the kitchen. we went to get Michael, brought him home. we sent him in the house first and he freaked out! “WHO is THAT?!” once we explained we got another bunny, he was very excited. i’ve learned the hard way to never tell kids anything until that day.

LOL that’s what we were originally going to do but since we’re going to see him and then have to leave him I wanted to have the time to get it into their heads what is going on.  I figure now I have almost a week to reiterate to them that we’ll just be leaving him there for that weekend..or rather that the one volunteer is going to take him home with them for the weekend so that we can pick him up on our way home.  I really just don’t want tears Saturday morning because they think that we were just “looking” at him lol.

rescue remedy for the kids?

Yea and our pug is going too!  My mother in law was going to watch her but she’ll be watching my husband’s neices over that weekend adn they’re scared to death of small dogs.  So the big dog can go stay there but Elphie has to go with us.  Oh yes..it will be such a blast.  Guess who’s going out tomorrow for rescue remedy!! Some for Drue, some for Elphie, some for the kids and most importantly some for me!!

Luckily the car ride with the kids at that point will be almost done.  We’ll be stopping about two hours after getting Drue and staying at a hotel and then we leave the next morning for the last 4 hours. So it won’t be TOO bad!

and Drue gets to stay in a hotel? he’s gonna be wondering what the heck is going on… at least his life will be calm afterwards, right? haha.

Yep he gets to stay in a hotel.  But he’s used to being in a shelter in the puppy and small dog room..so yikes! everything after that should be calm!!
