        Hey everyone!

So Ive had MArley for about a  year and a half now and yesterday my boyfriend and i got Oreo!!!

They are in seperate cages that are right next to eachother but eventually i want them to be able to live together. Today they met eachther for the first tme! It went pretty well i believe. Marley showed no aggression and they both just seemed to ignore eachother. I actually had to leave the room because Ive had a horrible experiance where my rat killed another baby rat while i tried to bond them. But everything went fine.

Im still worried though, Ive never had 2 rabbits before and dont really know what to expect. MArley by nature is very skiddish and stand offish to people and seems to act that way with little oreo too.

Are there any tips you can give me to make this process easy on me and them? anything in paticular i should look out for to know weather things are good or bad with them??

        Thank you so much!

          Hello there, and welcome!

First and foremost, are Marley and Oreo spayed/neutered? This is a must if you are planning to bond them…otherwise they could be very aggressive, not to mention the potential for accidental litters. It might be a good idea to let Oreo first settle into his new home and house Oreo and Marley side by side during this time so that they can get used to each others’ presence as well. Here’s a great guide on how to go about bonding: https://binkybunny.com/BUNNYINFO/BondingInfo/tabid/63/Default.aspx

Feel free to ask if you have any more questions…and just saying…we like pictures

Bonding can be very stressful, and chances are you’re going to see some fights and chases. You want to be present tho to help break it up if this happens. Rabbits can hurt each other badly if proper precautions are not taken, and the sooner you can react, the better. While my pair was bonding, I wouldn’t even watch tv or read a book. I gave them my full attention thru out the entire bonding session (… those were a long few weeks!)

Like Peppy asked, we need to to know their sexes, if they are both spay/neutered, and their approximate ages. You’ve had Marley for a year and a half so he/she is an adult, but it’s not clear if Oreo is.

Did you introduce them in neutral territory?

My favorite article on bonding is from the House Rabbit Network. It’s a fantastic resource. Check it out: http://www.rabbitnetwork.org/articles/bond.shtml
