I left the door open between Kale’s condo and his xpen while I was at work today, and came home to find five pills in the xpen. I picked them up and dumped them in his litterbox. I go downstairs to fix myself dinner, come back up, and BAM there are at least 20 more pills in the xpen. I picked them up again and dumped them in his litterbox, and then put Kale in his condo with the door closed (He was going to spend the night in the xpen, but he lost that privilege).

I think that he might have spent so much time in the xpen, he started thinking it of his, hence the massive amounts of marking when I invaded “his” space. I feel bad keeping him in his condo while I’m at work and at night, but I can’t have him marking in the xpen – the xpen space is going to get bigger and bigger until he can roam around my room, and he can’t think of the whole room as his. Would you guys suggest less time in the pen until he stops marking, another litterbox in the pen, or something else?

        Thanks.

I think I suggested this before that you definitely need to put a litter box in the xpen.  But don’t forget a lot of rabbits will mark a new territory until they feel it’s theirs.

Was/does the area the x-pen encompasses smell of another animal by any chance? Try another litterbox in the spot where Kale mostly goes, if not, shrink the space of the x-pen and widen it out slowly as his litterbox habits improve. Most rabbits will keep marking until they feel it is theirs but definately try another litterbox.

My dono left BB’s everwhere he went for the first 6 weeks. He then finally felt the place was his and hasn’t left a BB outside of his litter pan since then.
