O.K. everyone! Last time we posted was on February 7th! Wow it’s been past a month already!!! I’ve lost 6.5 pounds so far of my 25 pound goal. Please share your updates what you found worked and what hasn’t etc. We can all do this, it just takes determination and patience. I will share that my pants are MUCH baggier now LOL I look like baggy-butt oh lordy I feel ridiculous in some of them and I am going to have to alter some of them too. My regimen? Diet and pilates 3 times a week. If you have trouble with your abdominal area, let me tell you this will beat it, slap it, firm it up and make you look sexy!!! I’m doing a DVD called Yoga for Weight Loss with Ana Caban, in case you are curious, I got it at Target.
gulp. my pants are not looser (yikes they may be tighter) and i haven’t exercised for a month. i blame the snow.
*hops back on the weight loss wagon*
yay for scarlet’s success!!!!!!! you have officially motivated me to check out that dvd & have a green drink
Thanks! *blush*
Hee hee, not a problem, and don’t worry, climb back aboard girlie and pedal that butt off! (O.K. Official motivational speech over.) LOL If you do check it out, “the Hundreds” are agony but you feel the burn! Your library might have it too so if you feel it isn’t a match for you, try another one. I like this one because it is challenging but not impossible to do. I like it and the gal in it, she’s motivaltional to me and I don’t feel stupid or intimidated.
oh man I was just thinking yesterday how I am such a blimp now, and how I should do something about it. this is great!
I have lost 4 kilos, not sure in pounds, for me it was going back to work and not being bored anymore.
Congratulations Scarlet & Lisa!! I actually was doing outstanding, I lost 6 pounds and then I fell off the wagon right into a big ‘ol pan o chocolate, and gained half of it back. I blame it on visiting company, and events, but ultimately it’s my fault, my own will power – I do okay on my own, in my own home, but I need to have a game plan for when things aren’t planned and, bring with me healthy snacks so I don’t fill up at restaurants with friends or at someone’s get together. My problem was after a very eventful week or so, and falling off, I had a hard time getting back on. It’s like you go, well….blah…I screwed up, so what the hell, I’m just going to go all the way.
Anyway, I’m dustin myself off, and getting back to it. I really really miss skiing (which I couldnt’ do this year) and I don’t want to miss mountain biking and major hiking this summer. I have to be in shape to do those things are I will set myself up for knee and ankle injuries. So if I just remember how much fun it is to do that, I’ll have something else to look forward to.
I haven’t focused on weight loss AT all since everything happened I think I lost a lot of weight in the initial break up, because I stopped eating, but now the meds have given me an appetite and I’m eating again…but I don’t know if I’ve lost anything or am just in a stable-state…
*Shuffles into the back of the room, hands in pockets and a bit embarrassed*
Nope, I’ll be the first to admit that I haven’t been paying too much/enough/any? attention to the weight I’m supposed to be losing, which is a Very Bad Thing.
I was thinking about it this morning, though – I really need to get in the habit of exercising. And eating better, too. I do walk about a mile a day on my too and from work, but I think I should start putting in at least 30 minutes a day on the exercise bike. (I know that I should probably start smaller, but if I don’t do it every day, I won’t do it at all) Also, I need to make sure I’m bringing healthy snacks to work. I think my biggest downfalls as far as eating is the vending machine in our lunch room at work. I think I will stop carrying around dollar bills and coins.
This comes at a good time. I’m just starting my diet this weekend. Gotta lose weight and get in shape for my summer riding trips (poor Winnie having to carry me, lol).
I’m just using the ol’ healthy eating and treadmill method. I also bought a yoga book I plan on starting up soon too. I’m doing a less-strict version of the Skinny Bitch plan. (It’s a book and it really opens your eyes about some foods…I will NEVER touch aspartame again.. and I was extremely addicted to Diet Pepsi until I read this).
My goal : 30 lbs
It’s pretty hard to diet this time of year. I’m a CHOCOHOLIC and those darn Easter treats everywhere….
Sigh. Just like last year I got sick. I was down for more than 2 weeks with the flu and bronchitis that needed steroids and 2 rounds of antibiotics to get a lid on. I’m back on the nebulizer twice a day and have had to cut my activity level back again. This is what got me into this mess in the first place
yikes.. i think i put on 6lb never mind lost it lol no i have been eating healthier rather than less and had the good intention to do more excercise but then i had like 3 term papers in at once so its been mental! i have 3 weeks off now and i will be shifting some lbs! well done to everyone who is doing well! whats your secret?! lol
I’ve gained a huge amount of weight in the last 2 years and finally need to do something about it. Well, the first thing I’ve done is figure out that a med I was on starting last summer makes you gain weight! I was hungry all the time and saying “this is not me”. I used to be very thin, or just in good shape. So, I finally got my Dr. to get me off that stuff and switch to one that is documented as never making you gain. Step one accomplished.
I also am not usually sedentary at work, and with my new part time job, I’m up on my feet again. Walking, up and down this big staircase there (never use the elevator). It gives me energy to get back to exercising. I had done Weight Watchers once about 2 years ago and it worked really, really well for me. I can’t afford it now, but I know the drill. Once I decide to start dieting and exercising, I’ll get better soon. It’s the siren song of sweets that calls to me now…..sigh.
hMMM defo needed this!! I finally got my butt on the scale on Monday (nevermind what the number was…) That was a big step as I’m somehow terrified to scale…I need to get in the habit of doing it every monring I think, otherwise I never scale myself!
Congrats to everyone who lost weight!
I have been working out at least once a week with my girlfriend. I make sure that every single day, if I dont’ clean for an hour or do volunteering, or go riding, that I have to work out. I’m trying to just get more active rather then ‘working out’ which you’ll never be able to do forever…We’re planning a trip for the end of May so hopefully that motivates me…
Puffy…Whats this ‘skinny bleep’ you speak of? I want to know!! Why no aspartame *red face* I love diet pop…
i still enjoy my diet coke occasionally – never did like the taste of regular coke. leaves a wierd after-taste. even tho it sounds silly to go & order a fries & a ‘diet’ coke. lol. must sound like extreme denial… i’ll eat this big pile of fries & save the calories by ordering a diet drink.
anyways… i cut WAY back on it once i read about sweeteners too. i eliminated sweetening my coffee & stopped buying anything sweetened with any kind of sweetner. i read a lot about it on mercola.com… anyone familiar with this guy? he’s very very strongly opinionated about diet & health & the politics behind it (pharma companies / conglomerates…). sometimes i agree with him & some times i don’t… but i like that he provides sources for everything that he claims so that you can form your own opinion.
the book puffy mentions is pretty funny to read. its what got me off of eating meat actually (ok i was on that path anyways but this was the final kick). ‘skinny b1tch’ is basically preaching about a vegan diet in a very humourous ‘in-your-face’ and blunt way. some chapter titles are: “give it up’, ‘sugar is the devil’, and ‘pooping’. oh, and don’t read this book if you’re offended by cursing.
here’s an exerpt that makes me laugh… “You need to get healthy if you want to get skinny.” “The first thing you need to do is give up your gross vices. Don’t act surprised! You cannot keep eating the same *bleep* and expect to get skinny.” “Brace youselves, girls: soda is liquid satan. It is the devil. It is garbage. There is nothing in soda that should be put in your body.” then they go onto explain why… about the chemicals & such. at the end of the book they profess… “we really couldn’t care less about being skinny.” “Our real hope is for you to become healthy.” this is obvious while reading through the book since everything they speak of is nothing new… it’s just that they present in a very funny way.
Hey Y’all,
Congrats to everyone who has lost & willpower to those who have not!
Luckily, I was brought up on a lot of “real” food. We were not aloud to have things like chips or sodas in the house. So, those things never got to be a habit.
My biggest problem is portion control – I eat healthy food, but too much of it. Plus, my sweetie love comfort food – you know, Mac & Cheese! Oh yea, we both love wine & Beer – that never helps.
I do cardio, weights & streaching 4 to 5 times a week. I hope to loose 15 pounds.
BTW – Aspartame can trigger or worsen a lot of chronic illnesses like epilepsy, parkinson’s disease, and alzheimer’s – which runs in my family – I try to stay away from it.
Ok, I’m jumping on the weight loss bandwagon! My brother-in-law is getting married May 31st, and I want to look good for the wedding. I’ve found that counting calories really works for me – I keep track of what I’ve eaten in a little journal – it’s amazing how the calories just sneak up on you!
Alright everyone keep up the great work and those of you who are jumping on the bandwagon, keep yourselves on track! Just keep thinking beach weather, beach weather, beach weather!!!!
Sage_Cat I am so guilty of comfort food too. I LOVE baked potatoes and well, the absolute worst thing to have when dieting according to my Dr., potatoes.
I totally cannot count calories, I did that and just had a very time counting them and it was way too frustrating for me.
Oye, right now I have the flu and won’t be exercising until I feel much better because I do not want to relapse. Hopefully this means I will not be gaining back any of the weight I lost.
Oh great stuff ladies … Glad to hear all doing well or getting back into it.
We are all here to support each other …. Get out those bikinis for Summer!
Dawn xx
Scarlet,
Actually I had heard that it isn’t so much the potatoes, but the stuff people load on them. Butter, sour cream, etc. If you can stand a plain potato, It’s not a bad source for a filling vegetable.
Well potatoes are supposed to be bad in terms of : starch, carbs and high glycemic index
K&K exactly, they convert straight to sugar! My Dr. gave me a lovely soap-box lecture on them…all 5’2″ of her
*shyly peeks head in door* Ahhh…is there room for me? *grin*
I really need to pay better attention to my diet as I just found myself ballooning up this last month. You know you’re in trouble when you pull up those pants and hear RRRRRRRIIIIPPPPPP! @_@
Urgh…no potatoes? *faints* I love potatoes. *sigh*
My big problem is knocking off soda and all the sweet stuff I put in my daily coffee. Yanno, for someone who lovingly assembles beautiful salads for her two bunnies every day, you’d think I’d put a few of those in my mouth instead of what I do eat, which is mostly junk.
But I’ve had cancer too, so that should’ve been an even bigger kick in the pants to get me on a healthy plan. ;_;
I should take off about 25. Otherwise I just don’t FEEL well.
Mimz there is plenty of room for everybunny! How about you eat when they do and you fix three plates of salad – one for yourself?
Apparently (making note to check into it) sweet potatoes have a lower GI indes, and less starch then regular potatoes so you can substitute those when you want potatoes!
I’m such a dummy….I thought this was a bunny weight loss support group?!? I was thinking…I don’t think a bunny should be losing 25 lbs! LOL
I actually gained about 50 lbs since I got married, nearly 3 yrs ago. Its gotten more gelatenous since I’m pushing 40 and spend most of my time on my butt doing dissertation stuff. About a month ago I decided to stop all the excuses and get myself back on Weight Watchers. I had lost 50 lbs on it b/f and had since given away all the WW materials.
I rebought everything on ebay in late January and started back up about a month ago. I’m down about 7 lbs! For those of you that love your comfort foods…check out “Healthy Homestyle Cooking” from Rodale Press. There are 2 awesome cookbooks and the recipes are fantastic. You hardly know that you’ve given up the yummy stuff. I find people are either salty or sweet. I love my sweets…I have a major sweet tooth that cannot be curbed. I’m going to keep track of all of us, to keep my motivation up and running…glad I saw this!
skunklionshow LOL! Oh my goodness *chuckle* yeah, 25 pounds for a rabbit would be a *bit* excessive. That’s great you’ve lost 7 pounds! I’m going to check into that book.
K & K I would love any info you have on the lower GI index for the sweet potatoes!
I have one thing to say right now. Chocolate bunnies and peeps are evil I say….pure evil! I have been temporarily defeated by these fat pushing creatures.
I am on a bit of a stand still at the moment, well I mean easter and chocolate, I can’t say no.
Yes, they are very eevviillll………
haha peep show! that should have been my easter card
BinkyBunny, don’t fret too much about the peeps – they of course are all sugar, but 5 of them only have 140 calories. Not great, but not nearly as bad as I thought!
HAHAHAHA! Funny, and thanks Cadbury.
