        Hi everyone, just setting up this March topic! Glad to be back, and I see I’ve got a lot of reading up to do 🙂

        Breintje has become an old fart over the last year, he’s become a lovely cuddlebug at 8,5 years old. When he was younger he used to run around all day and chew a tunnel through a phone book. Now he loves laying next to me on the sofa, taking naps together and getting his massages. He even loves being brushed nowadays, who’d have thunk?

        Here he is:

          Hi Ellie!

          Wonderful to see you here again! 💗 I often think about you and Breintje. It’s so great to have a cuddly bun, my bun Vilde is 8.5 years too now, and a total cuddle bug!

          I have been trying my hands at Tunisian crochet these last few weeks:

                  @Bam, Hazel, Jersey and Dana: it’s good to be back, I really missed this forum, you and your buns! ^_^

                  @Jersey: I was devastated to hear of the loss of Reese, my condolences 😥 She was such a gorgeous bun! Were you able to get support from people while the forum was down?

                  @Bam
                  : Glad to hear that Vilde has become a cuddlebug too. Never heard of the Tunisian style before, but it looks very neat 🙂

                  I wanted to show a picture of my current project, but for some reason I can’t upload any pics in this reply. In my first post it went flawlessly 😐

                    I saw you had posted elsewhere on the forum, so I figured I should check the chat thread. I haven’t been doing a very good job checking the chat threads lately. 🙁  Welcome back Ellie! It’s nice to see you!

                        Hi @LBJ10! Indeed, nice to see that people are coming back again ^_^

                        @Bam
                        : let’s see if uploading the pic works. This is my current project, it’s going to be a triangular shawl for the LARP club. Luckily I found some thick needles which are easier to handle. These are so long that the ends can rest on the sofa on both sides of me, so my hands don’t have to support the weight of the project.

                        I learned a new 3D-effect stitch which was on my wishlist for quite a while: the basket weaver’s stitch. It only consists of knit and purl stitches, but you alternate these in the pattern. Between each 8 rows there’s a knit row which gives the effect of braided strips.

                        That looks so great, Ellie! You can do sth a bit similar with crochet, by alternating front post double crochet and back post. I have done a lot of crocheting during covid! (Tunisian crochet can be described as a mix between crochet snd knitting, with  one long hook).

                        I’m sorry you are having problems with your hands 🙁 I hope it will get a bit better now when it’s getting warmer. It’s been a very cold winter here,  it seems you had that too, judging by all the pics of the frozen canals in Amsterdam that were on the news in February,

                            @Bam: It looks like another skill just has been added to my wishlist 😉

                            Thank you for the well-wishes! I’ve recently started with a series of treatments in the hospital, they have a department which specialises in hand and lower arm rehabilitation. My physio was happy that I could get an appointment there so soon, she has good experiences with them ^_^

                            Our winter was pretty weird: for the last 8 years we’ve rarely seen snow, it was mostly cold slush and constant rain. Around Christmas we even had spring temperatures. Suddenly the weather changed and we got snow storms twice. After the snow it remained dry but cold for several weeks, and I actually had less pain as long as I stayed in with the heater full on. My main problem seems to be moisture.

                            During one of these very cold periods there was a constant buzz of excitement: maybe we could have an Elfstedentocht!!! The “Eleven Cities Tour” is a legendary ice skating race which happens only a few times per generation. There are waiting lists for it, and some people train for it for 40 years in the hope to be selected.

                            It’s almost 200 km long and goes through all cities in Frisia. It’s a huge achievement if you make it, in some years over 80% of the contestants dropped out. Our king did it in 1986 during his time with the marines. He used a fake name and only declared himself afterwards.

                            It’s an event that everyone watches, it’s not uncommon for an office to put TV’s everywhere so people can watch. The buzz of excitement in the weeks leading towards it is called Elfstedentocht-fever. When the committee leader says the words “It giet oan!” (It’s on!) in Frisian, the whole country goes into a frenzy.

                            Sadly the thickness of the ice fell short a couple of cms this year, and it couldn’t support thousands of contestants. It also couldn’t be organised because of Corona. Still, some experienced skaters like the previous winner of the Elfstedentocht skated it on their own.

                            Elie The skating sounds wild.

                            Ellie The Tunisian crochet looks good.   Bam the braided looking one too. Nice.

                            I can’t figure out how to make the photos small enough to post.  I have painted a bunny house with bunnies. One fixings roof. Momma bun sweeping with baby hanging on her skirt.  The sign on their house says bunnyville. I said wow my binkybunny user name is bunnytowne. So close.

                            I painted an arizona cowboyfor my bestie who now lives in Arizona.  I found it.  It so happened to have Arizona flag rattlesnake cactus dam state capital. Some Zane grey books. The cowboy had a ponytail it said janet all over it.  I have video of my at Raven playing fetch yes she plays fetch no kidding. She brings it back and stares at me tothrow it lol.

                            Good to see yall. Glad to meet you new ones and the oldies too

                              @bunnytowne: you can resize them in Paint and save them as .jpg It’s how I send photos to customers as well, the quality stays good enough.

                              Thank you all btw for your kind words in my post about anticipatory grief, it helped me a lot!Tonight I had a very peaceful night with Breintje cuddled up to me in bed, and the only thoughts were: “Awww, I love that bunny!”

                              It’s so cute that he comes to me to snuggle up, not having to call him or lure him with treats. I wake up for a short while when he walks onto the bed, and settles himself against my arm. A couple of purrs and pettings later and we’re both asleep again.

                              Bas always loves to hear how happy that bunny makes me. He had to move to another part of the country for work and rented a room there because he only has a temporary contract. I really missed having someone close to me at night, and we’re happy that Breintje likes to keep me company. The downside for Breintje is that he can’t sleep in the bed when Bas is here. Breintje insists on laying next to me and will climb onto Bas’ face  to get there 😆

                                Thx i am going to try the paint to resize. Enjoy your sweet time together you and Brientje
