PAYDAYYYYYYYYYYY
Olaf, Ailis, Apollo and Luna’s nose
I should be able to remember more of the others.
I can’t believe February has been and gone already… However March means seeing Logan, and the new Beauty and the Beast ![]()
Vienna, I love your enthusiasm, but payday is tomorrow ![]()
Nope, yesterday actually
![]()
Here payday’s on the 25th
So excited for the new B&B movie too ![]()
Apollo, Bindi, Sterling, Chewie, Podge, Frank, Annie, Zane, Henry’s belly, Pippi’s belly, Autumn’s belly.
Forgive me,.. I do enjoy participating, but,.. I’m a bit lost, in the monthly chat area,.. ppl post names, of, what I’m assuming, are their pets ( rabbits, I guess – past, present, or future,.. I have no idea) ..and some particular payday.. I’m just having trouble, trying to figure that out, iis all, and, what it means. ![]()
The payday thing was just random happiness about incoming money.
The bunny names are buns who are white or part white because there’s this tradition where people say white rabbit three times in the first of the month, so we got in the habit of just naming the buns ![]()
Yes sorry Yoyo – lol
complete gibberish for those not in the loop.
“Normal” people (lol) would just say “white rabbit white rabbit white rabbit” (a bit like in the UK we say Pinch Punch the First of the Month, with no returns”)
but we’ve adapted it for BB
So feel free to join in and add the name of a white (or part white) rabbit ![]()
You’re all forgetting Buttercup! ![]()
Ooh no, Gina remembered her

Buttercup made it into the first post
Roy’s yet-to-be-named Indian Bunny. My Ailis. Niamian’s Bianca. We haven’t seen Niamian on for ages.
Important question guys, one needs to know: What age do dogs normally start cocking their leg to pee? Is there an age?
lol,.. I so glad I asked then lol
– here I go – Nivens McTwist x 3 xD ( yes,.. I googled that hahah ) I will have to learn myself up, on the white rabbit lore ![]()
– Ty guys, for explaining it!
Jersey, big dogs around 8-12 months. Same as a girl dog would go into heat for the first time. Individual differences of course. Small dogs earlier, they mature sooner. Not all male dogs lift their leg. And some girl dogs lift their leg when they pee.

What age do dogs normally start cocking their leg to pee? Is there an age?
Hmmm, not sure – but I’m not sure either than it’s a 100% guaranteed thing that all male dogs do… it’s a “I’m higher up the ladder than you” thing, with an allout competition to pee the highest, so maybe if a dog doesn’t feel that need, maybe he doesn’t.
I do know a male dog that doesn’t.
So… in answer to your question Jersey – I’ve no idea !! LOL ![]()
Our female wolf used to do it. ![]()
Jersey, my exp’s with young males ( dogs ), is that they can begin to cock legs, as early as 5 mo’s,.. depending I suppose, if they have an older role model around… if you get them neutered, while they are adolescent, they most likely will urinate on all 4’s tho.. in most cases.
Haha, true. My bunnies had a hayday last Saturday! Everyone loves hayday! Fresh hay! ![]()
Brilliant! Hayday-diddledoo indeed!!! P-Hayday – said with a real huffing of the ‘H’…
Mine really don’t each much hay
But they’re tucking into the freshly rinsed (read wet!) grass their hooman slave has just gone out into the dark to cut with scissors (neighbours’ curtains twitching saying ‘cheri! it’s zat strayyinge eeengleeesh woman again’)
But let’s see if they like the Readigrass that their slave is going to pick up shortly – they bloomin better !!!
You crossing the channel just to get readigrass?
or you found some locally?

Im sorry Vienna.
Thanks all for your answers to my question. I was spending time with Danny (sisters dog) this week and was curious. He’s 5 months.
it’s a “I’m higher up the ladder than you” thing, with an allout competition to pee the highest,
Well that may explain why my brothers tiny little dog puts her rear end up a tree trunk to piddle!

It’s the husband of a good friend of mine who I knew had some health issues (don’t we all?) but no-one realised how serious it was.
Obviously very…
That word….. “unexplained complications”.
Of course, as is always the case when something serious happens, we hadn’t been in touch since he fell ill 5 weeks ago and I was totally unaware of what absolute hell she must have been going through. I feel awful but I do know that she was supported by her two best friends.
I wasn’t close to him, but I’ve known her for years and count her amongst my very good friends.
She has 3 kids under 5 (the twins are 2yo in a fortnight…).
Words can’t express the sadness I feel for the kids to not know (or remember) their Daddy
And (once again) for the realisation that we are so fragile.
He had a “blog” that he kept up to date (I never read it, a specialised war games thingy, a passion that his wife did not share ) but I went on to it yesterday and his last post was in Nov 2016. And then… just… nothing. Like he’s dropped off the face of this earth.
I presume no-one has password access to go onto it, make a last official post and lock down the site.
It will just stay there until some remote Silcion Valley button is pressed or the page subscription runs out.
So sad.
I brought this up a few months ago, that this is strange world we live in now, where we have ‘close’ friends and acquaintances on the internet with whom we ‘chat’ each day (yes, present company accepted
), pour our hearts out each day and share a powerful bond (bunnybunybunny!), yet if anything should happen – pow poof – gone.
So, call up the ones you love who you haven’t spoken to for a while (must do that *puts it off again* she’l be fine)
Send a text to someone you haven’t heard from in a while
Post a ‘just to say’ card, writing any silly, unconsequential news you may have
Kiss and physically hug the “non-virtual families” in your life.
Give your furry animals an extra long hug, scratch or an extra deep sniiiiiiff in his/her neck when you see them today.
Love life. Live life. “Dance like no-ones watching” kinda thing

I just found the cutest’ easiest bunny cake! I’m going to make this for all occasions now! (I Didn’t read the recipe, I figured I could make any flavor of cake that I want so I just looked at how you get the design.) This is the coolest cake ever: http://jennysteffens.blogspot.com/2013/03/easter-bunny-cake-continuing-grannys.html
I don’t want paper ears though, so I’m going to make some out of white chocolate.
Vienna: I’m sorry for your/your friends loss! Poor children and poor your friend. ![]()
Vienna, I’m so very sorry for your loss, how heartbreaking, especially given how young the children are. It’s never easy losing a family member and ultimately it’s inevitable, but you’re right that it is very sad that the kids will never grow to know their dad.
Wishing it was Friday, but remembering it’s Thursday
![]()
Reese, that cake is adorable!
Oh wow Vienna. That’s incredibly sad.
Reese, that doesnt look too complicated! Make sure you take pics of the one you make.
You could also try using wafers of some sort for the ears. Or wafers coated in thin layer of chocolate. That shouldn’t be too heavy. Or just make the bunny a lop. ![]()
Oh no, I missed it. I was sick yesterday (was better Tuesday and then NOPE yesterday). I fell asleep when I got home. Anyway…
Leopold’s tummy!
Wooly’s blaze!

Sorry for your loss Vienna, what a tragic situation for the family
We went to see Logan yesterday, it was pretty amazing.
I’ve never been a big fan of superhero movies but I’ve always really liked Wolverine/Logan. Plus it’s Hugh Jackman, and when isn’t he amazing.
Is Patrick Stewart still in these as Professor X? Cuz I’d totally see it for my darling Captain Picard ![]()
Yes he is,
He’s awesome too.

Yay, anybody else feeling spring vibes? I was outside for a short walk today, and flowers are slowly popping up everywhere ![]()
I decided to do some spring cleaning and mucked out the kitchen. It’s all so white and shiny now, I’d almost order take-away for the next week to enjoy it. Yup, it’s a big change! The previous state was: “You could eat off the floor here, there’s enough to choose from.”. ![]()
That’s a cute little dish.
Hi Bunluv! *waving* Hope all is well with you and BB and the Princess!
Ellie, it’s a tiny bit spring-like here as well! Picked the first dandelions and ground elder of the year yesterday. Bam was very pleased ![]()
Snickers just managed to wriggle through a 4cm gap to get in with Podge and Gina
thankfully I saw and had her out before anybun got hurt!
Now working how to reduce gaps while leaving the ‘gates’ openable ![]()
GJ, that’s scary!! So glad you saw it and could stop it!
That’s a really cool bento box Q8! ^_^
Yikes, bunnies really are little Houdinis, arent they…? Do they fight when they’re together?
Q8, that’s a lovely little bunny lunchbox ![]()
A 4cm gap?! Holy moly!! ![]()
I always hate it when someone doesn’t pass the “€20 test”.
The €20 test is a great way to estimate someones reliability. Becoming friends with someone new, and want to know what they’re really like? Loan them a small item, or something like €20, and see how soon you get it back. If you never get it back, that was €20 well spent.
I was trying to become friends with a girl who moved into the neighbourhood last year. She wanted to borrow my bike for a day and I said yes. After three days I still hadn’t heard from her, so eventually I went to her house. She was very nonchalant about returning it, and that really shocked me. A bike is the main mode of transport here, and it’s very annoying to be without one. How rude to be so sloppy about that!
Shame I had to get to her house to try and get my stuff back, but I’m glad I found out before we really became friends.
Ellie, did you get your bike back? I hope you did. And good you found out before you became real friends.
Here are Podge and Gina by the gap Snickers squeezed through last night
When they were still young, Gina and Jenny used to be able to squeeze through these, and I had to use bricks as additional blocks. I used to wonder if Mini could, but he never did. Snickers is our biggest bun, at 2.8 kg, and I would never have expected her to manage. Yesterday, I had an Amazon delivery, and gave Podge and Gina the box. Snickers and Mini still had an almost intact box from last week. The two boxes are identical, so I don’t know if Snickers thought Gina and Podge had her box, or just that she regards any new box as hers, but she spent ages trying to bite through the metal gate, before pushing through that gap on the left, where I clip the gate to the door frame. She was like a bunny possessed, she just wasn’t letting Gina and Podge have that box…
Thankfully, I saw her go through, which meant I was straight after her, and I think Snickers and Gina were both shocked to realise snickers had got through and just froze, meaning I was able to grab Snickers before any fighting started.

Ellie, did you get your bike back? I hope you did. And good you found out before you became real friends.
Yes I got it back yesterday evening, luckily nothing was damaged. Man, I hate flaky people, that’s really the last thing I need in my life right now.
Glad you could defuse the situation Gina.Jenny!
Ellie… dodged that bullet. I never thought to test potential friends, but it’s a brill idea! Will try it next time someone interests me enough to want to include them in my life
GJ: Snickers… Sneakers… Snicky teeheehee Close call. Glad all is well that ended well (thanks to mommy being totally on the ball) ![]()
It may sound very cynical to “test” people a bit, but I’m definitely not the best judge of character. I used to end up with a lot of bad people around me, so now I’m often very wary when engaging new friends. I’d rather have 5 reliable friends than 20 friends who’ll try to leech on you.
GIna – can you screw the round thingymajig in any further into the door frame (post?) or can you move the key-ring end of the clip up to the next bar, which will enable you to close the gate more ? ![]()

GIna – can you screw the round thingymajig in any further into the door frame (post?) or can you move the key-ring end of the clip up to the next bar, which will enable you to close the gate more ?![]()
If I turn the eyes any further, the door frame starts to crack
I’ve bought some carabiner style hooks and trying them down a bar, which makes the gap slightly smaller though probably not Mini proof, given the gap Snickers got through ![]()
So… you need a hook in place of the eye… so you hook the gate directly on the hook? Leaving no gap at all… You just need a way of closing the hook. Like a dog lead clip spring thingy. (Or the clip which is on my garden run to hold the little door open)…. ![]()
GJ – what if you moved the screw eye hook to the part of the frame facing us in the picture. If you screw it in with the eye hook parallel to the wall and as close to the wall as you can get, then when you go to clasp the clip in the cage to the eye hook it should close the gap.
Just discovered that the Crufts dog show is on again at the moment, I love watching the agility and they put it all on YouTube
I’m set for the next few days, haha.
Wow, Crufts has come round again ?!! that seems quick !
I prefer Scrufts !
![]()
Yes, indeed. Very quickly. I don’t care for the judging/showing. I’m really just in it for the agility ![]()
Me and Effi used to do agility. We stopped because it stressed her out. She’s more of a tracking kind of gal. I loved agility though.
Kyra and I did too.
We stopped because whenever it rained and she ran into the tunnel she never came out !!!
Not stoopid these animals…… ![]()
Hi everybody!!! Still in Hawaii, but thought I’d pop in to say “hey”.

That sounds amazing! Sounds like you’re having a great time ![]()
** hey!! ** right back at ya !! Manta rays, cooooooool !!!
How’s the tan going? ![]()
Yup, that sounds like fun ^_^
My dad was very happy today, haven’t heard him so happy in months. His wife passed away two years ago, and he’s slowly starting to clear out some her stuff. He finds it hard to go through her stuff and to let it go, because it brings back memories. Last week he donated several large boxes of her hobby materials to the LARP club. She had a lot of ribbons and fabric laying around, including all kinds of brightly printed quilt fabrics. We could use a fair bit, but a lot of it was too colourful or too modern to use in our medieval-style costumes.
I decided to call the revalidation centre in town, they do activity therapy there. They were very happy with the quilt fabrics and ribbons, and they promised me that anything they couldn’t use would go to the school for handicapped children next to the revalidation centre. My dad was very happy with this, he said: “That’s exactly what she would have wanted, to make someone happy with those materials.”. I hope it gives him a bit of peace as well, he’s living in a house which is packed to the ceiling with all of her stuff. She was a bit of a collector.
That’s such a great story Ellie.
And your dad will know that his wife’s materials made a positive difference in not just one group’s lives, but three!
Wow, thats so cool LBJ! Can manta rays sting you?
It’s great that it made your dad so happy Ellie. I can’t even imagine how tough it must be to sort through things after someone passes. So glad it’s resulting in a positive outcome for so many people
I caught myself looking at rabbits on gumtree again today. So many poor bunnies in need. Not the random backyard/hobby breeder posts which there are a million of, but you know the ones. The two poor rabbits stuck in a small inappropriate cage with the wrong food that the owner can’t afford to care for anymore because they have a puppy and a kitten now. Or the poor little two 10 week olds in a ferret style cage with no covering on the wire that the owner has obviously gotten bored of very quickly and has no idea how to take care of and you just know that they’re going to end up in a home that won’t understand what’s happening when they start fighting or just repeatedly popping out babies. Poor bun buns.
At least I know I did the right thing and adopted my pair and they are safe and loved and have a wonderful home with myself, hubby, and miss squawks-a-lot. ![]()
Also, just thinking about when I adopted them. After seeing/holding/petting a number of bunnies and then having Apollo “plonked” onto my lap, I just knew that there was something special about him. I was never attracted to REW bunnies, but there was instantly just something about Apollo that pulled at me. While I know all bunnies are special in their own way, it turns out I was right about Apollo. He is the sweetest snuggle bun ever. He always wants to be petted and comes running over if he thinks I’m petting Luna and he feels he is missing out. As an added bonus, he is the most plush rabbit ever, his fur is very dense and is just super soft. Not to mention he loves to binky and does spectacular dead bunny flops!
But he really is so sweet and I love that he comes running for head rubs ![]()
Aww, Az. I totally get where you’re coming from
It’s that sense of “You’re THE one, furball.” ![]()
LBJ, Manta rays!!!
Ellie, that’s lovely.
Az, it tears your heart to shreds to look at bunny ads on Gumtree/Craigslist sites.
Yesterday there was a “sale” on fennel at my favorite bun-veggie shop (I do buy hoomin veg and fruit there as well, but as we all know, bunny veg has top priority). Anyway, the fennel cost less than a USD per kilo, so I bought 3 kilos for Bam. I sliced up two bulbs and dried them on the fruit and mushroom drier, it actually looks like it could work.
The pidgeons are cooing outside my window. It’s one of my favorite sounds.
Ooh! Drying fennel… So it would be like fennel chips? I like getting fennel when in season. The bulbs here are pitfully small at the moment. @Az, REW bunnies are really one I think people need to see in person and spend time with, to really appreciate them. I didn’t recall Apollo plonking in your lap when you first met! What a love-bug.
Well he didn’t plonk in my lap, he was plonked into my lap by the rescue lady
Yes it is heartbreaking to look at gumtree etc, but so nice to know I have THE ONE!
Should’ve called him Neo
I can’t recall what the fennel has been like at the farmer’s market, I haven’t looked in a while since the bunnies are off most greens still (just grass and dandelion at the moment).
@Az: you don’t choose the rabbit, the rabbit chooses you
Jersey, I dried it for Bam, so I just cut it up in slices, it lost most of its taste. It has been Bam-approved though, so I’ll be drying some more today.
Here’s a pic, it turned rather yellow but not quite as yellow as it looks in the pic:

Looks pretty good, Bam. I dried some papaya, which I tried thinking it would be nice and sweet. The taste was exceptionally strong. Fortunately the bunnies like it but I can’t ever imagine eating it, haha.
I can’t believe the rain today, it’s crazy. At least I won’t have to water the lawn for a while again now ![]()
*Waves” back! Really? Maybe I sensed that I kind of miss these forums. I’ve just been very busy with work, learning how to use my new camera etc. I mostly chat in rabbit groups on facebook these days.
Awww that is so cute <3 BB has taken to numerous flops daily to which I drop everything to run over and pet him!
Still kind of wet here also, snowed as of a week ago even.
Sorry took me a bit to get back. Omg it was so cool! They were literally swimming inches away from us. One hit me with her wing. And no, Reece they can’t sting.
Oh my, Luna just did the cutest flop ever! Right in the doorway of the condo so her head was just dangling over the edge, lol. I tried to sneak up for a pic but she never holds the initial flop long enough to get a pic.
One hit me with her wing.
LBJ – I hope you hit her back !!!!!
Jooooooke !!! They are SOOOO majestically wonderful. ![]()
Haha! If you only knew where she hit me.
lol, not sure I want to know
It’s funny, I put a new (recycled and homemade) toy in Dory’s cage today. She’s spent the last half hour chewing on it and playing with it. Definitely a success
Keeps her quiet anyway, lol. After coming out to play, getting a new foliage branch in her cage and a new toy, she’s been silent pretty much all day, haha. It’s just tough keeping ahead sometimes.
At the end of a 3 day weekend. Guess who’s not motivated for work tomorrow!
Me, me, me! ![]()
Bit if a rant ahead:
Went to Pets at Home yesterday with my Mum as she needed dog food for her GSD’s, and I got a lovely plush cushion bed for the bunnies
Anyway, the pets they have for sale are right in the middle of the shop and the rabbits were surrounded by about 10 people. Then there was a shop worker in one of the rabbit pens as a family of 5 wanted one. They were crowding round the shop worker who had a rabbit in her arms and they were saying “oh, have you got any girls? We want a girl” Ok, first problem – why not mention that before you send the worker in to pick up rabbits? Secondly, they were buying the rabbit for their 3 year old!!! Now I don’t think children should have pets anyway but at least a 14 year old can take some responsibility. What on earth is a 3 year old going to do with a pet rabbit?! I sumer they bought it for her as a real life cuddly toy ![]()
Next problem, the bedding used for the rabbits is wood shavings, and there was only one cup (roughly) of veggies for 5 rabbits. And the veggies were iceberg lettuce, carrot and bell pepper.
So the idiots buying a rabbit for their 3 year old seem to think bunnies are cuddly and I guarantee everything they’ve been ‘tauggt’ is what the established from the pet shop :-/
That’s such a shame. While I agree that rabbits aren’t well suited to young children, I have no problem with parents buying pets for their young kids providing there are realistic expectations. As kids at about age 4 and 6, my brother and I were each given a kitten by our parents. Obviously they knew they would be doing all the work and that we would simply “help” with feeding etc so there was never any neglect or issues. It may sound bad, but just because a mother is buying a rabbit for her 3 year old daughter, doesn’t necessarily mean it will be an unsuitable situation. Remember our very own LittlePuffyTail has a young daughter who is wonderful with the buns.
The pet store situation regarding feeding though is unfortunately a very common problem. I think here, often the only thing I’ve seen in with rabbits is straw (not hay) and a big bowl of muesli mix.
I totally feel your frustration Sarah
It’s sad to see that pet stores don’t give rabbits the proper care (food/bedding), and that there’s hardly any advice given to prospective buyers. These people are probably not prepared for the responsibility that comes with rabbit care. People usually think that they’re docile and low maintenance… Couldn’t be further from the truth. The only thing we can do is raise awareness with the people we meet offline and online. Hopefully the public opinion about rabbits will change. Here in NL I can see it slowly changing over time, many adults get rabbits nowadays and they’re often free-range indoor buns.
A friend of mine used to breed NL dwarfs together with her family when she was young. They did a lot of shows with their animals. Many people were interested in buying such a cute little NL dwarf for their toddler. They were always turned away with: please do your research on rabbit personality and rabbit care, and don’t buy solely based on cute looks. Small rabbits usually don’t mix well with small children, especially not NL dwarfs which are often a bit skittish and often don’t like to be handled at all.
I see nothing wrong with the adults having rabbits and the children just being a part of it but what got me is that they specifically proclaimed that they were buying it for the little kid. I mean a cat or dog I could understand as they are usually child friendly, very playful etc but a rabbit isn’t like that
I mean, the child was squealing quite loudly and excitedly (understandable I guess) but the parents didn’t even tell her to calm down around the poor animals. I just can’t imagine that they are buying the rabbit to teach responsibility or anything like that, I feel like a 3 year old is too young to feed an animal or something without expecting something in return. And this poor bunny is going to suffer ![]()
That is so sad, Sarah =(
In some states in the USA it’s against the law to sell buns in pet shops. I think that’s good. I avoid pet stores that sell live pets. You can’t always find one though, in case you run out of sth unexpectedly. Since last year we have a bunny welfare association in Sweden, they lobby against the sale of muesli-type rabbit food. I think one of the big chains in the UK has stopped selling bunny muesli. We’ve never had an Easter-bunny problem because Easter here has traditionally always been about baby chicks, and very, very few people would bring home a live chick to their kids. You can’t buy chicks in a pet shop, so that stops impulse buying. But Sweden is changing rapidly, so we might have an Easter bunny problem before we know it.
Here in NL it can’t be avoided, pets are sold in a lot of places. You’ll find them in pet stores, garden centres, farm shops, on animal shows etc. Animals sold range from rabbits to small rodents, exotic birds and tropical fish. Rabbits are usually on the wrong bedding (sawdust) and fed rabbit muesli. In our local pet store there was a parrot for sale who had picked himself nearly bald from boredom. He was quickly taken out of sale and rescued by a family with parrot experience.
BTW I was a bit shocked today with the question one of my friends asked me over text. I knew he lives a bachelor lifestyle of take-away meals, store-bought sandwiches and frozen pizzas, but this… Tomorrow it’s pi day at the library club (you get it? 3/14), so everyone has to bring a home-baked cake or pie. So I got a text from him: do you have any salt at home, can I borrow some? He literally doesn’t have one of the most basic kitchen ingredients. I’m almost inclined to call his mom and beg her to take him in again.
Ellie, he doesn’t have salt but what about flour, butter, pie filling of some sort? This isn’t just a sneaky way of getting a sweet, unsuspecting girl (you) to bake the 3.14 for him, I hope?! =D
No, he actually did bake a cake on his own, and a friend also made one. But yikes, how can you lack such basic kitchen ingredients? There are a lot of eternal bachelors in my circle of friends, and I wonder every time about how they survive.
I used to have dinner appointments with some of them: they’d pay for the ingredients, and I cooked a decent meal. For some that was their weekly dose of veg. *Shudders in a corner*
It’s a bit weird to not have salt, I do agree
And bachelors, eternal or temporary, can be terrible. When my brother was single he could proudly report he’d eaten a kilo of carrots. Straight out of the bag. This was supposed to balance a full week on frozen pizza, nutrition-wise.
I can’t imagine not having a key ingredient in the kitchen! I may be the only one, but if I use the last of something or if I find out that we don’t have an item in the kitchen, I tell my parents and spent the whole day wishing I could drive. I will soon!
Also, does anyone here dislike carrots as much as I do? Most people like carrots, but it is one of the only vegetable that I don’t like. That is why Reese does not get them very often.
Not having salt is weird, even people who don’t cook have salt, surely. I don’t like running out of things, because usually it won’t be something I use that often and then I forget I used the last of it and then I’ve planned to base a meal around it, lol. I don’t run out to get things if we run out though. I try to stick to my shopping budget, so I do a fortnightly grocery shop and if we run out, we run out. That goes for milk too, the only thing I’ll always get more of is bread, we eat a lot of bread
![]()
I live across the street from a grocery store so I can get salt between 7 am and 11 pm. It’s not my favorite store because it’s pricey, but for stuff like salt it’s ok. Salt is actually sth I’ve run out of at times because it’s sth I never think of. Salt just is, like air ![]()

I will soon! Also, does anyone here dislike carrots as much as I do? Most people like carrots, but it is one of the only vegetable that I don’t like. That is why Reese does not get them very often.
I’m the opposite – I love carrots! Mmm especially dipped in guacamole ![]()
I like carrots. Bam doesn’t tolerate them so he doesn’t get any. He gets the tops on the rare occasions I can find carrots that are sold with the tops on.
Fruit and vegetables are the staple of my diet, because I can’t eat grains. There’s no vegetable I don’t like (the preparation can ruin some though). I like nearly every type of fruit except lychee, kiwi (allergy) and I dislike all melons except watermelon. On average I eat more than 250 g of veg every day and 3-4 servings of fruit.
My BF always laughs when he sees me shopping with a manic grin on my face, almost nothing makes me happier than fresh produce (I’m very scent-orientated, so I’m constantly sniffing things to judge ripeness). I love going to the market in summer. He’s always saying: oh oh, my little frugivore…
BTW, do we have anyone from New York here? Are you all okay?
Jenny is driving me mad
I’ve a final essay in a science assignment I need to get finished asap, and she keeps walking over the keyboard…. arrrgggh
Typical I’m-not-getting-your-attention-behaviour… We also see it often in Breintje: he starts doing naughty things on purpose when you’re focused on something. Very frustrating, is there a way you could restrain her for a while? Like with an X-pen or something like that?
More a case of ‘get that intruding black thing off MY carpet NOW’ than wanting my attention!
The assignment is second year degree, and so quite lengthy, a bit too lengthy to deny any bun floor time for the whole time it’ll take to complete it, with 3 pairs needing floor time…
Ugh, so stressed right now. My husband just left for a job interview (he has a pretty good chance I think) but he left later than he should have, and if he’s not there on time, guaranteed he’s not getting the job. So frustrating but out of my control I suppose. Now I just get to wait at least an hour until he’s out to find how it went.
Really, really hoping it goes well, he really needs it and we desperately need the extra income too. To the internet, the ultimate distraction tool!! ![]()
Hope it goes well!
Was he on public transport or driving?
Some interviewers will be understanding if you ring ahead and explain you may be running late due to what ever circumstances.
Thanks Jersey
He was driving, it all worked out and he was there before they got called in thank goodness! He got home half an hour ago and said it went well, though hard to say how well it went since it was a group interview and therefore not a lot of direct talking with the interviewers. Now we just wait to hear. After his phone interview they said it could be the following week before he heard back, but he heard back in 2 days, so not sure how long it will be.
Az, keeping fingers crossed for hubby!
GJ, I hope you got the assignment done.
Good luck Mr Az….. then we can have an extra feline member…..

Thanks bam and Vienna
He already said to me the other day, “I may be thinking too far ahead, but when I get this job, we’ll have to foster a kitty” lol, like I’d have any objections ![]()

Fingers crossed here too Az
Buns and Latte out in the garden, so determined to complete assignment and submit before lunch and well before my youngest breaks up from uni on Friday and comes home for 5 weeks! I
BTW I have two young bachelor student sons, and I am certain neither of them have salt, or most other kitchen basics in their student cupboards ![]()
Latte has a suspicious looking lump on his back, I’m pretty sure its a benign growth, and it doesn’t seem to be bothering him, but I think a trip to the vets soon will be needed
the problem with small bumps on the skin of a piggy is they can be like icebergs, 90% hidden ![]()
Poor little guy… I hope all is well. *paws crossed* ((((((Latte))))))
Fingers crossed for Latte, get well soon!
I really hope your husband gets the job Azerane!
GJ, I hope it’s nothing serious with Latte. Get well, Latte!
Pi day was actually 2 years ago, 3.1415 march 14 2015
Every hundred years: March 14 1915, 1815, 1715, 2115, 2215
We celebrate Pi Day every year.
Hehe, that was a very special π day indeed.
My previous neighbour worked at the uni’s math faculty, and it took him a year to realise that he lived on 3-14 and to get the joke ^_^
Is it fair to say then, that Australia will need to wait 24 years to truly celebrate a pi day?
We write the date day/month/year. So it would be 3rd Jan, 2041, correct?
@GJ, I hope Latte lump is nothing to worry about!
I had Ailís at the vet late this afternoon. Happy to see her come over and jump in litterbox just before, when I put in some fresh hay. Behaving more like herself, thank goodness.
Jersey – congrats on 19000 posts !!!! Wow !!!
We celebrate Pi Day every year
I celebrate pi(e) day every Sunday lunch!

Latte is from the same stock as Speedy, Silky, Grace and Choco, and I think he is and they were quite inbred, which does tend to mean a greater risk of tumours
Speedy, Grace and Choco all developed mammary tumours. Speedy’s initially looked small, but was probably much bigger out of sight, under the skin, and spread very rapidly, from being barely visible to spanning both nipples and beyond in little over 2 weeks. Latte’s lump is on his back, and looks to me like a basal cell tumour, which in itself is harmless, unless it has grown inside and starts putting pressure on internal organs. He will probably need an xray to see how big it is
Can they do some xrays keeping piggies conscious?
What age is Latte?

What age is Latte?
Pretty sure an xray will mean anaesthetic, not sure of age, but we’ve had him for over four years at least.
I don’t want a repeat of Speedy, when he went through the stress of going backwards and forwards to the vet those last three weeks, from when the tumour was first visible to him burying himself under the newspaper lining his run, and refusing to come out for even his favourite treats. At that point, I took him back to the vets and requested he was PTS. I felt so bad for letting him suffer at the end, even though I was going by the vets advice. But Latte’s is a different type of tumour/growth to the other three, so its still a case of wait and see what the vet says.
Not taking him today, its a lovely sunny day, and he is enjoying himself out on the grass next to Podge.
Awww I hope Latte’s tumor is of a different type and harmless!
Thanks
This is Latte’s ‘waddaya mean, its time to come in’ face, after only eight hours outside ![]()
Going to ring vets once the buns are in and sort out apt for tomorrow or Fri ![]()
((((((Latte))))))
Aww, bless him. Time in the sun must be his bliss.
Awww, he looks so happy. Best of luck at the vet, we’re all hoping for a good outcome!
Vet at 10 am tomorrow…
Off to get a sizeable food shop in before my hungry 17 yo gets home on Friday now.
I know this is probably going to bring down the mood a bit but it has to be said
I want to thank the whole binky bunny community for being so nice and welcoming to me even though I’m a newbie. the reason I want to thank everyone is because I have never had more than three friends at a time but now( because all my so called friends ended up being total jerks to me) I have one real friend and she lives 5 hours away from me, but now I feel that I have so many friends just because everyone is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO nice to me and will give me advice if I’m unsure of something. I feel welcome something I haven’t felt in a LONG time.![]()
I am literally crying while writing this. thank you everyone.![]()
![]()
Blue Moon, thank you so much for saying this -it’s so heartwarming that you feel this way about the BB forums! Yay!!!
I agree, that is heartwarming. ![]()
I feel sad though, that you haven’t come across welcoming people in real life or online in a long time. As to questions: there is that old saying “there is no such thing as a silly question”! I have had rabbits in my life for 10n years now but I still turn to this community and other people IRL for bunny advice & support. It helps to be able to chat with other like-minded, buuny-crazy people.
@Gina.Jenny Sending virtual (((hugs))). Just read in other thread about your sleepless night and worry about Latte. It’s not that long since Choco went to the Bridge, so I can imagine you are feeling quite raw over that and thoughts about {{{Latte}}}. Hold that vision in your mind of him out in the sun enjoying himself with the bunnies and all the times in the past when he did that with Choco. xx
Thanks JG
They say every cloud has a silver lining – the buns think this super early floor time is great fun. Lots of stair racing and bunny 500s…
The dawn chorus is just warming up. Sun should follow within the hour. Ages back, I posted that Choco had been chirping like a bird. Recently Latte has chirped a number of times too, sometimes for several minutes, though much more quietly than Choco used to.
Aww, GJ
I won’t tell you to wait and see what the vet says and to not worry, because I know it’s not realistic. I’d be worried too. But do try to get some rest. You need to chase after furballs in the morning. *huuug*
@Blue Moon: It’s great to hear that you feel at home with our fur-crazy bunch ^_^
I’m sorry to hear that you have had to deal with bad people, that always leaves you feeling betrayed and empty because of all the lost energy and effort. It can be hard to trust people afterwards, but do try to keep your heart open. This doesn’t mean that you should let down your guard completely. Bad people can often be recognised by how little respect they have for a few groups: animals, socially awkward people, service personnel and the elderly or handicapped people. This helps to serve as a warning sign: if anyone is mean or condescending to those, leave. While it may sound useless now, picking out the good people will become easier later on in life. You’ll have more experience with people, and you’ll probably meet new friends through common interests.
Most of my friends and I were branded oddballs in high school, and we all have experience with being shut out, bullied or duped. We met at uni through a shared hobby (games club and library club), and for most of us this was the first experience in real friendship. Despite being shunned for them at high school we all continued to pursue our hobbies and (academic) interests. Because of this, most of us are now very proficient in our field, and through them we all met like-minded people who turned out to be great friends. Never give up your hobbies or interests because of “peer” pressure, these things are a large part of your identity. Having defined your identity it’ll be easier to meet like-minded people.
@Gina.Jenny: nothing like buns to cheer you up in the morning! Best of luck at the vet, and I completely understand your worries. We’d all be worried sick if one of our pets was ill. I hope the rest of your fur-bunch can cheer you up while you wait for the appointment.
(Political stuff incoming, if not appropriate please remove)
Yesterday we had national elections for the house of representatives in NL, and while not all votes have been counted yet, I’m happy about some of the outcomes. The labour party was completely decimated and went from 38/150 to 9/150 seats. This was the party that proposed that idiotic “Participation law”. This law sets a quotum for companies to hire a certain number of people with disabilities, companies who don’t comply are fined. It was meant to help people with a disability (handicap or chronic illness) find a job, but the labour party were guilty of afwul discrimination whilst installing that law. The law doesn’t count for all people with disabilities, but only for a selection of people: the people who’ve been disabled since youth and the people with a small mental disability. Now most adults with disabilities find it nearly impossible to get a job, because companies are only looking for those quotum groups to avoid the fines. Adults with disabilities have even been fired to hire someone who does fit the quotum. Well done labour party! *sarcastic clapping*. Luckily the rest of the country agreed with me and nearly wiped them out, I wish these politicians all the best at the job market.
Ellie, I think that type of political content is appropriate. I remember you wrote about that before, that select groups of disabled are favored at the expense of other groups of disabled, and I thought it sounded so poorly thought out (but, sadly, typical of politicians). I too hope the new govt will get rid of that law!
BlueMoon – you’re welcome.
(and no, it didn’t bring down the ambiance, it cheered us up, all around the world)
It is highly likely that there are people not far from where you are right now who feel the same, lonely, you just have to find each other, as Ellie says, through mutual interests.
So keep your eyes open for posters or adverts or fairs or nature gatherings of what ever you are interested in… and dare yourself to go say hi!
And…. selfish request coming up….. please post more of your goooorgeous buns. I’m in love.

Back from vet, she confirmed the growth is benign, and isn’t infected. She doesn’t think its bothering him so basically home and bring him back if it gets any bigger. So he’s out in the garden with the bunnies
While it’s never nice to hear that it’s indeed a growth, I’m glad that it doesn’t seem to be hurting him. How do you feel now?
That’s great news, GJ, after the uncertainty and worry
Give him a little head rub from me (and love to my Podge, of course)
GJ, I love that it’s benign
Kiss him from me and Bam!
Yay GJ !!! xx
Anyone heard of THUJA ?
I’m going to try some homeopathic Thuja to home treat a verruca with tea tree oil too. On a blog written by Michael Graeme there is a 6 pic photojournal which shows an amazing effect of the two combined.mI’m hoping Boots sell it. I don’t have a Holland and Barrett near me.
thank you for the support and advice everyone.
what should I do for my mini rex who has sore hocks. my buns are on fleece and I have tried like every padding option (including foam which they chewed and I got freaked out that they were going to die).
Blue Moon, I don’t have any personal experience with sore hocks, but some here have had success with memory foam bath mats. It’d of course be a problem if your buns would just chew it. To get more answers, please start a new thread in the Diet & Care-section. Here’s a link you can use to create a new topic:

I’m gobsmacked. I went in to boots the chemists to buy some simethicone, (infacol isn’t it?) and the sales lady showed it to me and went back to the till for me to pay. I was looking at it in my hand and i mentioned it was in case of emergencies for my bunny (smile) and she paused and then said she was sorry but couldn’t sell it to me as it was for an animal and they didn’t have a licence for that !!!!!!! I called the manager and he repeated the same thing. I then changed my story to buy it for my ‘baby’ and he said he was sorry but I’d already said it was for my bunny !
So moral of the story. Go in. Buy it. Leave.
(ill find another chemists tomorrow)
It is infacol in uk isnt it Gina?
thank you bam
Yes, it’s infacol in the UK, V. ??
G.J. Happy to hear news from the vet. I hope you’ll sleep easier tonight!
That is so bizarre, Vienna. Next time say it’s for your extraterrestrial so they think you’re crazy, and see if they sell it to you – I’d wager they will. Just goes to show: buns are so friggin discriminated against ![]()
Thanks for everyone’s well wishes, but hubby missed out on the job.
He’s pretty disappointed which isn’t surprising, and because I got really hopeful about it I’m struggling with stress of worrying about money again (even though nothing had changed yet). I’m also worried about him, last time he got reasonably far in an interview process, thought it went well and missed out he kind of fell into a rut and I couldn’t pull him out of it :/ Hoping he copes better this time.
In other news, it’s the weekend, the bunnies are adorable and after an exhausting day at work I’m going to lay down for a nap ![]()
Im sorry, Azerane.
There just may be a more ideal job waiting for him.. Sometimes it just takes a switch in the way one looks at things to help cope with a set back.
Azerane, I’m sorry. I so hope he won’t be depressed about it, that’s worse than not getting the job.
Vienna, that’s just so silly. There probably is that rule, if they obtain information that the med in Q is intended for off-label use and it’s not prescribed by a doctor or vet, they can’t sell it. I just bought new saline eye wash. I sometimes use that to rinse Bam’s eyes if he has an eye booger. Feel like a criminal now, of course.
Pfff… we’re all a bunch of felons here on BB.
Az, I too hope your hubby looks forward and doesn’t let this disappointment bring him down. Have a restful nap. *hug*
I have never had that problem Vienna I always tell the clerk it’s for my rabbits and then they look at me like I’m CRAZY!
@Vienna: what a strange thing to have happened. Could you get them anywhere else?
@Azerane: so sorry to hear that your hubby didn’t get the job
Did they give any reasons why? Sometimes this helps a lot, because people can revise their search strategy or polish up their interview skills a bit. HR personnel often has to go through many applicants and make a choice quickly, so sometimes the reasons for rejection are very subjective.
An example:
A friend of mine graduated last year with a masters degree in nanotech. She applied at several companies but was turned down all the time despite an impressive CV. Finally a company gave a reason: she came off as very shy during the interview, and from that first impression they concluded that she lacked the social skills for the job. She’s only shy when meeting people for the first time, and under important circumstances. Well, an interview is both. She took some classes to improve her personal presentation (body language) and interview answering style. Shortly after she was hired as a quality controller at a large pharmaceutical company.
Grrr, I’m so p’d off right now. Found out that my apothecary lied to me this morning. Not once, but twice, the nerve! ![]()
Last year they switched brands for my regular pain medication. This wasn’t a huge problem, but now I take them daily in higher doses because of my lower back pain. The side effects are dry mouth/throat/nose and slight sickness. The new pills are cheaper, but also rougher and twice as large as the old ones. A couple of days ago one got really stuck in my dry throat, and I heaved it back up again ![]()
I discussed this with the apothecary, and they told me over the phone: no problem at all, just mention it to your doctor the next time you request your meds and we’ll take care of it. Bas went to pick up my meds yesterday from the automatic dispensary, and they gave me the new brand again. I called my doctor this morning, and the assistant told me she prescribed the old brand, it was clearly on the recipe she digitally sent to the apothecary.
I called them to say that they delivered the wrong stuff, and the first answer was “It wasn’t on the recipe”. I called their b*llsh*t, and told them I’d just spoken to the doctor’s assistant. Then the answer was: “Oh, we must have missed it then, it happens”. I called the doctor’s assistant, and she quickly got to the bottom of it. Guess what they told her: “Oh yes, it was on the recipe, but we normally don’t stock this brand because it’s more expensive.”. Well, luckily she managed to get the message through that it’s rather important for a patient not to choke on their meds, so hopefully Bas can pick up the right meds this afternoon. Bah, blatantly lying to people for a few lousy pennies ![]()
I used to have this happen all the time in Canada with brand vs generic meds. Yes it’s the same active ingredient, but the fillers are different, and I found the brand name meds to be more effective / have less side effects. It wasn’t placebo either because I asked my brother to help me do a blind test. heheh

That’s ludicrous! And yes it is infacol, that’s what I have
I picked mine up from Morrisons.
I bought Infacol at Tesco.

That happens here a bit also. I make a point now of requesting the name brand as it is on the prescription. That was after I was automatically dispensed a generic version of my medication. I think there was some sort of incentive for the pharmacy to do this. Anyway, I reacted to the fillers.
Took it back and had them replace with the one I was used to.
@ VB Wow, I’ve said the infacol was for my bunny at Shoppers Drug Mart without issue, they just smile!!
Mind you, I took my product out to the Hay store and she said she may not be licensed to sell it and pointed to her certificates on the wall, so I guess there is a truth to their statement.
@Ellie That is just rude, particularly if you are paying for it.
@ Azarane i hope the next interview is one of success!
@BunLuv: I’m paying for it through my health insurance, but I get so angry when people lie to me. What kind of idiot do they take me for?
LOL, Breintje noticed I’ve “cheated” on him. One of the girls in the flat is away for the weekend, and asked me to be bunny-sitter. I met her bun Ollie for the first time today when picking up the keys. We became pretty good friends, probably because I had raisins in my pocket. He sniffed my trousers and my slippers while we met. Now Breintje is going over every spot meticulously, chinning my clothes and scent-marking me anew.
You shall know your proper master…slave!
@Ellie, they didn’t give any reasons. He knows he is shy but usually he’s pretty good at overcoming that for important interviews and such, it’s not like he sits there not talking because he’s too shy to.
And I can’t believe they just blatantly lied to you like that. I had that happen to me once when I called a store to check they had something in stock before we drove 25 mins down there to buy it, talking to the guy on the phone I asked if he was actually looking at them on the shelf to which he said yes. So we made the drive and lo and behold, there were none on the shelf (and it’s not something they would have sold out of). I sent bad customer service feedback to the store ![]()
Shame they didn’t give any feedback, it can be really useful for applicants.
You’re totally right for calling them out on bad service, that was very sloppy to say the least.
Yay, I finally got the right meds. The doctor’s assistant also helped me out with my other medication, I noticed I ran out of my heavier painkillers this morning. Thought I still had a package of them in my cabinet, so I forgot to request them. I dreaded having to go through the weekend with only the weaker meds. She called the apothecary and Bas could pick up two boxes of the new brand and a box of the heavier painkillers. I slept like a baby this afternoon, really needed that and it does wonders for your mood
Just had a great surprise
Last year I took part in a Secret Santa with a group of online friends from another forum. Right before Christmas I received a gift from my SS with a note to say that it wasn’t the real gift, they were just worried the actual one wouldn’t arrive on time so they ordered something from my country for me. Well, I’d all but forgotten about it and just now a delivery driver dropped off a box to the door, from Poland and post marked 7th November 2016
It’s full of polish snacks and goodies along with a little Zazu plush (from the Lion King) and a snowy owl figure.
A lovely start to the weekend.
Az, yes what a great start !!! Did the driver drive from Poland??!!
But I’m surprised the snacks got through Aussie customs, known for their food strictness. Or is all wrapped stuff ok ? ? But its all great news!
And i agree with Ellie that asking for feedback Is good. I did once when i was baffled i didnt get through an interview i thought i would have sailed to the next round on…. its a way to move forward or the way to change the vibes you give off.
Turns out the answers i was giving, which I thought would be what THEY wanted to hear, were not and they came back with the view of “not a team player”!!!! Which is so not true. (I believe and I’ve been told…). Turns out they had set questions and you get points for the answers and then you fit into a category at the end. A bit like a Women’s magazine relationship questionnaire or something….
Anyhow, things happen for a reason and his perfect job is just waiting for him next time around.
![]()
Haha, or walked perhaps
Processed food is fine, choclate lollies, snack bars etc. It’s things like fruit and veg, and nuts that they don’t like.
I also told him before we found out that if he didn’t get that he should ring and ask for feedback, he told me he wasn’t sure that he would because sometimes that’s not considered “correct” for whatever reason.
As it turns out, I was reading on the couch, then I wasn’t and half the day has slipped away, lol!
Hi everyone! I’m BACK! OMG, I’ve missed SO much! I’ll be reading forever!

Sorry took me a bit to get back. Omg it was so cool! They were literally swimming inches away from us. One hit me with her wing. And no, Reece they can’t sting.
I had read this post as you being back from Hawaii. Oops! Then you were absent after that post, I was worried you got sick again.
LOL Jersey, OMG, we were just so busy running around that I didn’t get a chance to post again. Now I’m home. ![]()
Well, I’m glad I was wrong on both counts.
How are the boys treating you? Bunny Butts?
Yay! Welcome home! Are you getting the stinkeye from your furballs? ![]()
I honestly don’t think they care one bit that we were gone. Wooly was giving my mom the butt, according to her. He would take his treat and then run and hide from her to eat it. I was a bit horrified by the mess. Apparently Leopold decided digging in the litter box is fun. This is after 7 years of NOT digging in the litter box. I don’t know if it means he’s annoyed or if the new litter box I purchased before we left is some sort of novelty to him. My mom said he didn’t dig in it until the day before we came back. She said she cleaned it up, so apparently what I found happened between when she was here and we returned…
Hi LBJ!!! Welcome back!!! Maybe Leopoldo decided enough is enough, mommy must come home now or I’ll dig a tunnel to Hawaii and go get her? ![]()
I’m with Bam on this one ![]()

That is a nice suprise! Don’t let BubblesJo see the snacks. She might be jelly.
What did you send off in your SS parcel?
Haha! Well, from the looks of their room, I’d say he almost made it there. He was actively doing it last night, so I corrected him. I haven’t heard him digging this morning, so hopefully he’ll stop for awhile.
Oh wow, Azerane, that’s insane! It’s March! LOL
And when I said “corrected”, I meant I removed him from the litter box and gave him a tap. It’s the only thing he understands since he can’t hear me yelling at him. LOL Sorry, that just sounded so awful when I reread that up there.

I had to really think for a minute, what did I send?
But I do remember, I happened to be in a store and see a dinosaur scarf (the lady I had LOVES dinos) so I had to get that, and then I also drew her a picture
I didn’t send any snacks because most of the Aussie things I think should be sent I’ve already sent to her in the past, and summer and mailing chocolate don’t mix
She does love Tim Tams though ![]()
sorry to hear that your husband didn’t get the job Azerane.
does any one know how to stop rabbits from fighting?
A gift you’ve taken the time to make yourself (the pic) would have been well received, I’m guessing! That’s lovely. : )
I’ve just realised I mixed up Poland and Portugal!
BubblesJo, if you happen to be reading, I’m sorry!
Blue Moon, is this a bonded pair that are fighting? Have you begun a new topic or do you need a hand doing that?
yes the pair are bonded. and yes I have started a topic it is called bunny fight. it is in the behavior category
So… I made a dig box and put it in their room. Leopold just looked at me like “what the heck is this thing?”. *sigh* Hmm, now I just need to figure out how to praise him for getting in it. If he gets in it on his own (I did set him in there and he just looked confused).
what is everyone’s dream home? or dream country to live in?
my dream home would be just off of the great barrier reef in australia
Hmm… 2 story bungalow in Hawaii was my top pick. But we were just there and the islands have become so crowded since we were there last.
Jersey, yes, she loved the picture that I drew for her
Unfortunately I hardly ever draw anymore but it used to be the most common thing I would do. I suppose the internet has ruined me
I do feel like it every now and then, but my supplies aren’t organised so it feels like too much work just to get started sometimes. Then because I haven’t done much in a long time, I get dissatisfied with almost anything I do because I’m out of practice so I give up, lol. It’s a terrible self-feeding cycle.
Dream home… Somewhere out in the country, or in the fringes. 2-5 acres, a native garden for the birds, privacy from neighbours, wrap-around veranda, and a heated swimming pool that never requires cleaning or maintenance… Inside the house needs to be bright, lots of windows, light coloured floors, light coloured walls, light coloured carpet etc. I hate dark rooms and houses, I find them too depressing. Plus all the bunny fur and dust shows up too easily on dark floors
It would also need to have a catio, an outdoor screen room for the cats attached to the house via a cat flap, and a dishwasher. Oh how I long for a dishwasher, lol. Also, it would need to be in close proximity to some great birding locations so I didn’t have to drive an hour + just to see some cool birds
Oh and I guess hubby would want a good internet connection and no more than 15 minutes from conveniences
I don’t ask much, lol.
EDIT: As an important add-on, my dream home would also be well sealed, spider and insect free ![]()
A house on a hill or cliff overlooking the sea (or at least a VERY large lake) in either Japan or France
Or I’ll just come live with Ellie and Breintje in the NL ![]()
Awww, that would be so cool ^_^
Yay, I love daydreaming about houses, Bas and I do this often. We share most opinions, which is a relief. Our dream house would be a single-floor bungalow somewhere on the outskirts of a small city. The city we live in now is pretty perfect for our needs, as long as we can find jobs in the area. It has about 160.000 residents, good medical and shopping facilities and okay-ish public transport.
It’s really important that it’s quiet, so I can get my rest and recovery. This can be hard to find in a country as crowded as NL, and we already live in a rural area. Neighbours are vital in the decision. Not looking forward to people with a herd of shrieking kids, and I’ll never live next to a school again, or next to people who play loud music/instruments, not for a million euros. My home is my comfort zone, and the only place where I can truly relax. Peace and quiet here, and the rest of the world can bugger off with its noise.
A private, somewhat secluded location is more important than the house itself. The house itself doesn’t have to be large, but it does have to be well-insulated against drafts and easy to heat. Comfort is key here. Our main wishes are a room where Bas can make his gaming mancave, and one where I can make a sewing atelier. It’s okay if outdoor space is minimal, as long as there’s enough space to sit outside and do some outdoor cooking. And a little patch of grass for Breintje to play on.
Thinking about the future it’s best to have a house that can be adapted if my illness gets worse. No stairs (or a stair lift), and enough room in the hallways and bathroom to move around if I end up needing a wheelchair some day.
Our dream home would be private, comfortable and future-proof.
That sounds really nice, Ellie
Chewbie is currently in hiding (on his birthday, of all days!) because a noise from outside scared him – a mean old mini-bus driver parked under our balcony and just honked and honked for whomever he was picking up in the building across the street (Kuwait seems to lack toxic noise bylaws). ![]()

I’ve just realised I mixed up Poland and Portugal!![]()
BubblesJo, if you happen to be reading, I’m sorry!
Ahahah, no worries jersey. I’d be down for Polish snacks too
I got a package from home last month, so I’m stocked for a while. Portuguese cookies, nom nom!
All I want from a dream house is a library. A room full of books just makes me extra happy ![]()
Hehe, we just played a game of grumpy bunny roulette. Breintjes moult isn’t coming in properly yet, but he has loose tufts of fur everywhere. It itches a lot I think, especially around his bum. I lay down on the floor next to him and petted him. During petting I managed to gently pluck out these loose tufts. Each time he was like “ooh”, and after each tuft he gave me a lot of licks. In the whole process I got 99% licks and 1 little nip. Luckily everything was fixed with a raisin ^_^

I enjoy laying next to Luna and plucking her tufts too. How many raisins will you need when Breintje goes into full blown molt? ![]()
That’s the only way I can groom Chewie this moult ![]()

You and me both, Azerane! ![]()
We want to move to the pacific northwest and live on a small farm, 20+ acres. Build a tiny house, and grow as much of our own food as possible. We want to be as self sufficient as we can. No mortgage, working part time. I’m trying to find a full time job right now, once I do, it should take us 4-5 years to save up enough to get started. I guess it’s more about the lifestyle for us than the actual house. We just need it to be small. ![]()
I made a no nuts appointment for Mosby. When I called, she told me they had an opening this month. I told her we actually wanted to do it in May, which seemed to surprise her a bit. I guess when people call to have their cat neutered, it usually goes something like: “Please help, he’s spraying EVERYTHING!!! Cut them off, CUT THEM OFF NOW!!!’ ![]()
Watching this really strange movie called Brimstone. It’s making me feel seriously claustrophobic. After the silly laughs of Fist Fight and the ridiculous “scaries” of Get Out, this just feels so heavy ![]()
Yeah, so I got my hand stuck in the elevator door at work today. Not sure how that happened! It sure hurt though. o_O
The elevators in our apartment buildings use the “safety” sensors to gobble up unsuspecting humans. My first year here, I was pulling some shopping into the elevator when it suddenly crunched me. Fractured a rib. ![]()
Yes! The safety sensors on the elevator are these plastic pieces that stick out the when door is in motion. They came to a rest on each side of my wrist, apparently not sensing my arm at all and the inside door (door to the elevator car) is what closed on my hand. I was literally stuck. I had to pry the door open, I was afraid it would crush my hand or the elevator would start moving or something. The back of my hand had a nasty indentation in it and now the whole area is swollen. :\
Yikes, that’s so scary LBJ! Did you go to the doctor yet? If it’s very badly swollen you may have broken something. It can be hard to notice, because the hand has a lot of tiny bones.
Ouch! That sounds like it hurt.
That is scary, LBJ. You should get x-rays.
My dog just decided her dog kibble dinner was insufficient, so she went into the living room and stole 2 Fiba First sticks and 1/4 of a fennel bulb from Bam. Luckily I bought 3,7 kg (8,2 pounds) of fennel today, so Bam won’t have to suffer.
Effie. Good on ya. Grass is good for you…..
lol
Had a great evening yesterday – Buttercup is now very confident going up and down the stairs, she’s unstoppable! And Peanut licked my knee
For like 10 entire seconds ![]()
Yes, Vienna, timothy-based pellets are a must for a healthy GSD =D
Sarah, you must have posted the exact same second I did =) That’s lovely! Bunny licks! I wish I had stairs, I believe they’re great for bunny exercise.
Aww… good doggie. Diana used to graze in the back yard on a regular basis
SG: Knee kisses are so sweet ![]()

Vet check up yesterday – all is well with The Bunsters
Zou weighing in at 5.6 kg (300g less than 6 months ago)
Henry weighing in at 4.8 kg (300g more than 4 months ago – he stole them from her – fatty !)
They are currently in their penthouse suite – discovered with joy this evening when the link-hole had been uncovered. They are used to jumping up through a hole in their holiday home outdoors, so they knew exactly what to do !!
They have had 3 days to acclimatise to the ground floor where ablutions are done and food is served….!
(So NO poops or wees upstairs please guys !! And don’t destroy the nice new fleece !
)
Other news – I have 15kg of Megazorb and 15 kg of Readigrass in my ever-decreasing living room !
I’ll write about MEGAZORB in the litter post – one word : wood pellets in disguise.
READIGRASS – mehhh; buns aren’t jumping on it and for some reason i thought they were going to be long bits of grass that would fit in a hay rack ! Hah ! they are grass trimmings – literally… aboiut 1-2 inches long. And of course now we are in spring I am cutting fresh grass….
So now I’ve got to stock all this mega voluminous bunny stuff somewhere which doesn’t exist….
grumble grumble ![]()
PS – Pleeease tell me there’s a way to delete all photos I’ve uploaded to BB in batches rather than deleting one and waiting 30 secs for it to disappear… ![]()
![]()
Why do you need to delete photos Vienna?
You guys worry too much! LOL No, I didn’t go to the doctor or get x-rays. The swelling has gone down, but the area is definitely bruised. Yes, it hurt quite a bit but I had worse injuries at the nature center I worked at. Never from an animal! But the stupid enclosure doors.
I told the superintendent what happened. He said I could have a key to make the elevator doors stay open while I’m loading stuff on it. Sounds good to me!
Vee – why you need to deleete? ![]()
Because there are 300 in my upload screen (
) and I’ve been trying to upload for a few days and BB crashes (or my comp….?) each time…. so id like to delete them and we’ll see if that helps…. ![]()
I’ll ask the rest of the team, V.
But won’t that make all your lovely photos disappear from your posts? ![]()
What I WISH we had were thumbs instead of just filenames. I have no idea which file number corresponds to which pic ![]()
Watching Kong: Skull Island. Good fun thus far ![]()
I’ll upload a pic now and then erase it from my files just to see what happens:

(Found on Insta, so it’s not my work.)
ETA: So far, so good. Ran CCleaner + rebooted after I deleted the pic from the list.
I’m watching Ray Donovan. Better than expected! Esp Jon Voight =)
@LBJ: how’s your hand today? Hoping it’s going better now, what a scare!
@sarah: yes, licking is reserved for best buddies only. It’s the biggest compliment you can get from a bun.
@Vienna: yay, glad to hear that everything is okay with the furmonsters! Hoping your buns enjoy their new surroundings ^_^
Bas was so sweet this morning. Had a pretty rough start with nerve pain from my spine down my leg, so he brought me my meds in bed. When I lay there snoozing a bit and waiting for the meds to start working, he walked in with Breintje on his arm and put him on the bed to cheer me up a little. Breintje of course promptly started to explore, run around, climb all over me and thump on the bed (lovely, just what I needed…). The thought was very nice and cute, but Breintje just wasn’t accustomed enough to that new place to relax. I managed to pet him a couple of times, but Bas soon took him away because he didn’t seem to enjoy being there. All seems to be forgiven though, Breintje is snoozing happily under the coffee table.
Well I’d already reached a max photo storage before on BB and had to delete and I don’t think they disappeared then…
I often have problems on the Pics thread uploading at the end of each month anyway
I’ll try again now… midday seems to work better (USA snooooozing….. lol )
Huh… I wonder why I haven’t yet?? Well, apparently we can delete to our hearts’ content and former posts will be unaffected, so YAY BB! ![]()

Mine says 300 also. I think possibly everyone has that figure (300) there? Maybe that’s a limit.
I’m not certain deleting those files will help.
Have you checked the file size and type you’ve been attempting to upload? sometime the extension can cause a problem ie. .jpeg v’s .JPEG v’s .jpg
Nope – all photos identical and reduced in size.
It doesn’t crash when I try to upload, it crashes when I attempt to enter in the +Reply button. Even now
Is there any other way of deleting photos (like on profile) other than going in the +Reply and attachments part ?
I think it shows 300 when we’ve gone over…..
because I’m sure it shows less when there are less…. (like when I deleted them all before….)
Someone who has only posted a few photos needs to let us know…..
(Back to work – ho hum….)
Just checked. I’m a bit over 200 pics hence my lack of similar experience ![]()
LBJ: Ouch!
I hope your hand is feeling better now!
Ellie: That was nice of him. It’s the thought that counts!
We just finished Penny Dreadful. I’m sad that it’s over, I loved it. I wasn’t too happy with how things turned out in the end, still a great show though.
Do any of you watch Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt? Very funny!
Squeee! Chewie flopped and then tried cleaning his chest while flopped, and accidentally rolled off the edge of the rug and onto his back. He just floundered like that for a few moments oozing adorableness – but not long enough for mom to grab the camera, sadly ![]()
OK, so I’m deleting one by painful one (I’ve tried several at a time… nope! lol) and I’ve come down under the threshold of 300 and its counting them down….. 298/297/296/295…. zzzzzzzz ![]()
Vee, I’ve alerted the other leaders, but BB probably hasn’t seen it yet. She usually comes online in the middle of the night (that is, in the middle of the European night). I have 300 pix in my files, but have never had this problem and Jersey says she hasn’t either, which is a bit odd since she’s been a member for so long. A mystery, I hope it can be resolved!
No worries really. Its prob my server or French slow internet…. Zzzzz. But it doesn’t seem to like BB thats for sure….
currently in cinema waiting for La La Land, take 2 !!!!![]()
That moment when you realize you could have lost your hand in the elevator door. Yep, that was my day. According to the superintendent, it’s an old elevator that doesn’t have modern safety equipment. It has some safety stuff, but not the motion/light sensor most elevators have. Anyhoo, I’m pretty lucky it didn’t tear my hand off.
But for those of you wondering, my hand is fine. Just a bit of a bruise.
I’m baaaack…
Singing, humming and doing the odd sliiide walking home

LBJ, that must’ve been a horrific feeling
So glad you’re ok. But if you’d had had to have surgery or a plaster cast etc I hope your employer would have had to pay for it? There must be some workplace insurance?
Lucky LBJ! Will you have to make a report about it? Or the Super?
Vienna, I didn’t get a chance to see LaLa.
I had plans to see with my friend and her partner but I had to cancel. I’ll have to check if it’s still showing anywhere.
Hai ! Watcha doin’?

I have an itty bitty nethie staying with me and he is SO DARN CUTE!
Booplesnoot alert!
So adorabun.
OMG!!! I wanna squeeze him and boop his little nose!
There’s a such thing as workers comp if someone is injured on the job. I remember someone was messed up pretty bad when a car hit a cherry picker truck and a guy was in the bucket working on a street light. I’m pretty sure his medical bills were covered. My injury wasn’t serious, so I didn’t bother with filling out a report or anything. I simply emailed the superintendent about it to let him know it happened. Someone from the elevator company came today, but I was in a meeting. They showed my coworker how the door works and how there is only a sensor that tells the elevator car not to go if the outside doors are not closed. That’s why I was lucky. The elevator wasn’t going anywhere because I was standing in the threshold. The inside doors closed on my hand, but the outside doors remained open because I was standing in the way. Had I been inside the elevator car with my hand stuck, it would have been a completely different story. The superintendent did say that the elevator was operating as it was designed. But he was going to look into getting sensors installed. My coworker was horrified. She said she never would have known either. She’s all for having sensors installed. That’s the problem with our building, everything is outdated. I can’t believe something like this hasn’t already happened. I mean, it’s pretty common for someone to grab the elevator door to make it open.
That’s a good outcome at least. That’s in part why I asked about a report – so something would be done so it doesn’t happen again. It’s good that your having told the super got things moving in that direction. I could have ended very differently for you, which is scary!
I think it would be mind boggling if we knew how many “near misses” actually happen in workplaces.
My brother and Dad on the farm have had too many over the years, and they have pretty good awareness of safety. But stuff happens!
Dad had top of his finger amputated in Nov last year. It hasn’t had a huge impact on him and there are times when he was at risk of greater injury. He was more peeved at the timing of it as it was their busiest time and he had to be in the hospital. ![]()

Im glad this post means you made it home safe and sound. Just read of shooting attack in your neck of the woods.
Right after reading some stories about the London terror attack.
Really? ( just got up and am unawares….)
DO go and see LALA at big screen if you can. Won’t be quite the same on tv…
ETA. Ah yes. A couple of people shot. Private (drugs) affair they think…. ![]()
Ugh! Then they should keep it private rather then fire their guns out in public areas.
So… I think I may have stumbled on the error with photos. I was uploading pic as attachment and got error message that maxium file size allowed is 100 kb. Huh?
Im almost certain it used to be 500kb.
Anyway, I send you a PM, Vienna, with suggestion of what you can do in the meantime. Instead of deleting past files!
Will have to wait for DVD to see LaLa Land. Though I did see Beauty and the Beast with a friend of mine on Friday. Very true to the original movie with more depth to the characters
Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Jersery, the little Nethie is so cute ![]()
I’ve done a test and the photos remain on the posts even after deleting the file ![]()
Yay, it’s finally happening: my BF is finally going to the dentist next week! It took me 2 years to convince him to go, because he has a fear of dentists. He’s had some pretty awful dentists in the past. The last time my BF saw a dentist he was there for the intake, because he had moved to uni. This dentist knew he was frightened, and decided to do the appropriate thing: hammer a tremendous feeling of guilt into your frightened patient. He went on and on bashing him: “You should have brushed better, it’s a mess, why do you take such bad care of yourself, you should be ashamed….!!!” The end result was that my BF fled the office and hasn’t seen a dentist in 8 years. Really helpful, you a$$hat!
My BF has been making a lot of positive changes in his life over the last 2 years, of which I’m really proud. Getting over his anxiety a bit and getting his teeth fixed would be a great next step. I called several dentists in town and asked them if I could meet them in person to discuss the situation before having have to drag Bas over. Many declined, but I managed to find one who agreed. Really friendly guy, very calm and a good sense of humour. I explained what caused Bas’ anxiety, and he agreed to take it slow and to be very considerate when giving criticism. Bas is relieved that I scouted out a good dentist for him. He’s definitely not looking forward to the appointment, but he agrees it’s absolutely neccessary. We’ll go together for the first couple of appointments.

That’s really sweet that you did that for him. Glad that you’ve found a good dentist, I’m sure your bf will be relieved once the appointment is over. My partner has a fear of needles so I had to encourage him to get dental work done…and despite his needle phobia, he’s a regular blood donor now ![]()
I haven’t been to the dentist for years. I didn’t have insurance for a long time. I have it now, but still haven’t managed to go. It’s not that I’m afraid of the dentist, I just don’t want to go. LOL
Me either! And I used to work in the industry. ![]()
I’m weird and love going to the desntist. I basically really enjoy having the various parts of my body pampered, so the dentist visit feels like “Aaah… someone’s helping me take really good care of my teeth. And they deserve it cuz I chomp on yummy things every day.” ![]()
@sarah: thank you
It’s really impressive that your hubby is a blood donor now!
@Q8: haha, I totally get it. I’m not afraid either, for some reason I get quite relaxed and sleepy when I get a check-up. Absolutely hate going to the hairdresser though, prefer being in the dentists’ chair. Usually I don’t need to have any work done because I’m a fervent brusher and floss a lot. Lots of people with awful teeth in the family, which I wanted to prevent. It doesn’t help that many of them are chain smokers. Managed to win the race with my parents already: passing into your thirties with all your own teeth ![]()
Picked up the 2 little carpet rugs yesterday – perfect size for the condo and I can put up with the colour…. (I didn’t ask the buns’ opinion! )
But…. anyone got a homemade remedy to get old stale cigarette smoke out of carpet pile?
beurk !
They are out in the sun now… but they still smell
Seller said they’d been rolled up in a cupboard for 5 years. Any deep cleanser (vinegar / bicarb) will take the colour out of the pile…. I’ve tried that before !
Any ideas ?
Tomato juice.
Tomato juice? For reals?
Vienna, are your rugs by chance…orange?
Maybe if you and buns snort tomato juice daily, you won’t be able smell ciggy smoke in no time!
Use a neti pot.
For. Reals. ![]()
Come on. That’s going to stain red….!!!! ![]()
Did you know, really cheap vodka can be used as dry cleaning fluid?
So – tomato juice, vodka, throw in some celery and carrot for the buns and… Oh wait..
Bloody Mary! Who’d have thought it?!
LOL – And you are lucky, young Jersey – that the polite BB site did not bleeeeeep @!!??àà you out…. !! LOL
I find the fabric softener (bought in concentrated form sold in plastic sausages, well no not really sauages, but I can’t find the right word) smells very strong, even on my hands (I loooove that smell) when I just pick it off the shelf – so I may stick the rugs in a big plastic bag with a few ‘sausages’ in…. see if they can overpower the stale smell…..
If Q8 can elaborate on the TomJ theory, I might try that after everything else…
![]()
Jersey, you’re awful! LOL
Charcoal. Seal them up with some charcoal, preferably the kind used in filters.
LBJ – Oooo yes, charcoal.
Now, I know Zou is already that colour, but I like Henry the colour he is !!!!
LOL
OK I’ll try that if the fabric softener doesn’t work ….. ![]()
Put the charcoal in something, like a coffee filter. It doesn’t need to be ground into the rug.
The fabric softner scent will just mask the smell, but once that fades, you;ll just smell cigarette smoke again. Sorry!
From what im reading, nothing gets that odour out.
Well, except maybe tomato juice?
Soak the rugs in tomato juice for a while and then shampoo them. They really shouldn’t stain but it gets the smell out. Did it to the seatcovers of my Pugeot because it had been leased first by a smoker *gag*
Maybe i should put a days worth of poops in the mixer, make a powder and spread that on it….. atleast it would then have the right smell !!!!! ![]()
There’s a thought ![]()
Coat them in a heavy sprinkling of dry bi-carb soda. You don’t need to wet it. Bi-carb is great at odour absorption. A day or two (preferably wrapped up in a bag) then shake them out and give a thorough vacuum and they should be better. And if that doesn’t work, hey, they’re not stained with tomato juice ![]()
Tomato juice doesn’t stain!!
Seriously. I’ve never had a stain from anything tomato that didn’t come out in the wash.
Kuwaity “tomatos” !!!! AKA blushing apples…
![]()
OhmyGod Vienna I just caught up on your thread for Zou and Henrys condo ! It’s mahoosive!
When I was living at home, my pair had a cage and a pen (small but they had an outdoor run aswell and free roam of the house when i was there)
Then when I moved out, a section of the room was cordoned off for them…which slowly turned into my bed being sectioned off and the rest of the room being theirs.
Now with the prospect of us moving back home and into my old room, my mother (and without any prompting) has told me that she’s been thinking of converting the spare room into a rabbit room.
Which Im sure will go down like a sack of stones with the other members of the family …
Yuck, I hope you can get the smell out Vienna. A friend of mine used to be a heavy smoker, but he quit before he started his new job at our local uni. Fresh start, fresh breath was his idea. He had to move to our town quickly, so he stored all his stuff and took only the basics with him. After a couple of weeks he got the boxes from the storage and was appalled by the stench. He never guessed that it smelt so badly to non-smokers. He’s been off it ever since.
I went to the doctor today because my back pain is only increasing lately. Also got wicked nerve pain down one leg. The doctor doesn’t trust the situation at all, so he’s sending me to a neurologist. He says it may be a pinched nerve or a slipped disk. He gave me better pain meds and he asked the neurologist to see me ASAP.
Oh, no, Ellie… I hope you find relief soon ![]()
On a different note, saw Logan and am denying its existence from now on – too sad (and I hated the small spaz in it).
Oh no Ellie. That’s rough !! ((((( go away pain ))))
The rug that’s in the bag with the liquid softener just smells vomit-worthy now (reeeeally stale smoke meets overbearing house disinfectant in realllly dodgy cheap hotel!!) but the rug which is outside with some bicarb on seems better… and the other half of the rug which has deodorising spray on is quite good too. I’m away for two days so I’ll see what they are like when i get back.
Henry was ON FORM last night.
I wonder whether it was because i gave them a willow branch and he’d chewed most of the bark off?
But he was digging almost hysterically in the condo at 2.30 and 4.30am. I had to go down and sort him out with a handful of pellets….!!! After 7hrs driving today, i am now yawning like a trooper. Thanks Henry !!! ![]()
Ellie, feel better soon! I hope it’s a pinched nerve and not a slipped disc. Sometimes it’s piriformis syndrome and physiotherapy can fix that.
Vienna, Henry and Bam probably had telepathic contact last night. Bam woke me up three times, I had to go get him carrot tops from the balcony because he was running through his tunnels like a madbunny.
Thank you for all your well-wishes
Funny to see that your buns are also having a spike in activity. Must be the time of year or something.
Anyone ever experienced that your bun won’t allow you to stop petting? I planned to turn in early yesterday, but Breintje hopped up onto the couch next to me. He started licking me like crazy, and demanded to be petted. As soon as I stopped, he nudged my arm with his paws or his nose. Always present your stoopid hooman with proper and clear instructions, lest they don’t understand what you want… ![]()

So – tomato juice, vodka, throw in some celery and carrot for the buns and… Oh wait..
Bloody Mary! Who’d have thought it?!
Jersey, can I come to your house for spring cleaning? ![]()
Vienna, I would try cleaning them with vinegar and baking soda. Spray enough vinegar on there to get it fairly wet, then sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda on it, and start scrubbing. Then rinse, and scrub again with soap and water. That’s what I do with the carpet in the ferret’s room. If it can get that smell out, cigarette odor shouldn’t be a problem, I reckon? Pretty labor intensive though, so hopefully one of the things you’ve tried so far will work well enough!
Ellie, I hope you feel better soon!
I so love the new Beauty and the Beast
It’s a shame it’s been banned here… weirdos.
It’s been banned? Wow.
Ellie, Bam bites my mother if she stops petting him before he likes her to. It’s very much frowned upon, not the biting but the failure to pet the bun when and for as long as the bun wants to be pet.

How funny is that?!!! Well, not. But strange…..
And being in a hotel last night, i thought one night of undisturbed bliiis.
Room next to the lift. Need i say more….?
Am back now hone. All furries happy and unhungry. Thats what we like
.
Henry? Unhungry? Are you sure it’s him? ![]()
Hmmm that’s true!! Alright then. Not starving. Literally. (Phew!)

That’s strange, why did they ban it? I also loved it, more than I thought I was going to actually ![]()
Ellie I hope your back is feeling better, or that it will soon.
Blue Moon, sorry about your foot but the moving up to the next level in the chicken show sounds exciting! Best of luck.
@Q8: Yes, I heard the film was banned in several countries due to a gay character. Haven’t seen it myself yet, but I wonder how provocative it is that they felt they should ban it.
@Bam: teehee, a bun with an opinion! I hope he doesn’t bite too hard…
@Vienna: that’s bad luck, I hope you’ll get some sleep at home now. No bed like your own, eh? Glad that the furmonsters were happy, getting “the butt” isn’t the best welcome to get after being away from home.
@Blue Moon: thank you, and I hope your foot will heal soon! Best of luck at the show
I called the hospital today, and it turns out the neurologist already processed my intake papers within the day. Yay for efficiency! I’ll be examined and treated by someone in their specialised hernia department. They have a lot of experience with lower back pain and related nerve pain. The first open spot is within 3 weeks, I have an appointment on the 20th. (This is super speedy for the Dutch healthcare system, I once had to wait 4 months for an app. with a gastroenterologist and 6 months for a treatment at the revalidation clinic.)
The meds seem to work pretty okay-ish. Of course they don’t take the pain away completely but it’s manageable. I’m quite derpy and as sluggish as a sloth at times, which has Bas roaring with laughter. He seems to enjoy the quiet and my slow reactions at times and won’t stop poking fun at me
Luckily he makes it up by bringing in stroopwafels and “gevulde koeken” (Typical Dutch large crumbly cookies made with a buttery dough filled with sweet almond paste. They can easily be 10 cm across and 1,5 cm thick).
thank you for the luck every one I hope I do well too, as for the moving up a level it is nerve wracking for me I cant eat any thing before the show because I do so well usually I get freaked out that if I do bad my coach I guess and parents would be disappointed in me (especially after coming up from a first place win at a different show with the hardest judge ever) it is also April fools day so I am freaking out that the judges will do something to us to mess with us “sigh” just another crazy weekend for me (sarcastically and boredly) yay!
just a weird question does anyone speak Spanish or? Alguno habla Español?
I speak some Spanish, but I’m not fluent.![]()

@Q8: Yes, I heard the film was banned in several countries due to a gay character. Haven’t seen it myself yet, but I wonder how provocative it is that they felt they should ban it.
Severe overreaction I’m afraid. While it’s clear that the character is gay, I wouldn’t call it provocative. It’s played on a couple of times, but it’s not in your face. At least in my opinion. People are just over sensitive. Then again, someone I know was offended by Frozen when they realised that the character, Oaken, from the little mountainside shop was gay. Which I think is silly because he plays about a 1 minute role in the movie, but that single character made them not like the movie.
I am really loving the new song “Evermore” in the Beauty and the Beast movie though. Not being familiar with the musical, I originally thought it was pulled from that, but it’s a brand new song and is just gorgeous ![]()
The character’s gayness is more implied than overt. And at the end of the movie, during a ballroom scene and quite literally a few seconds before the end credits, he’s dancing and partway through a whirl, another dancer cuts in and it’s a man. They’re literally shown dancing for maybe a heartbeat. I just find the whole stink so hypocritical. The ministry here is clamoring that they’re trying to “protect” young viewers. And from what exactly? From learning about tolerance and kindness and love and frankly damn good music (yes, the non animated-version songs are also brilliant). This is all in a country where men routinely stroll while holding hands in friendship, greet with kisses, and dance together at celebrations while wearing (essentially) dresses. C’mon people! Maybe instead of banning Disney remakes, we could all acknowledge that the oodles of “24-hour men-only massage spas” are actually brothels, or that the heaps of fancy boats bobbing at anchor all day are not fishing, but rather hosting private “parties”.
Oh my gosh, just saw Beauty and the Beast last night – so good! Loved the new songs, too. Gaston was just like the animation and I thought all his songs and dance sequences were spot on. And they did “Be Our Guest” so well. I don’t wanna let all that overreaction taint the awesomeness of this movie because the director really did it justice. The new songs are great and it’s so rare to get songwriting quality like that nowadays. Loved that Celine came full circle by doing the final credit song.
OK OK !!!! I’ll go and see it !!! Just to make y’all happy!!

@Q8: aww man.. such hypocrisy…
For anyone who appreciates a good satire about such a topic, I saw this article lately: http://www.cracked.com/blog/how-to-explain-gays-in-movies-controversy-to-your-kids/
Hahah! That was some great satire.
Thanks for the fun read, Ellie.

The top comment (by WendiBird) was pretty amusing too. ![]()
Married kissing IS gross. ![]()
Indeed, yuck… It’s also well-known that mums and dads never have sex, unless it was to make you and your siblings.
