Does the smell come from spraying? If so I have never seen urine anywhere; it seems that he simply “releases” the smell. Does anyone know what this is and why he does it? He is unneutered and is too young to be neutered as of yet.

That smell would be from his scent glands (not spraying urine), and probably will not go away unless he is neutered. How old is he? Also, if your female rabbit is unspayed, she will start producing the scent as well. Do you have plans to have these procedures performed?

p.s. Do you happen to have two other accounts on here (Wiskers/me)?

Male rabbits will have stinky pee until they are fixed. If he is 4 months old, he is definitely ready to be neutered. For females, 6 months is a good age for a female to be spayed.

That stinky smell can definitely be from all of the above. Spraying—stinky. Urine just in the box — stinky Territorial Poops that are coated from the scent glands – stinky. One are ALL of those can be smelly. The skunky smell is more from those territorial poops, and stronger amonia musky smell can be from the urine too. If your bunny is reaching sexual maturity then this could be the lovely smell your bunny becoming territorial and claiming his place as a maturing adult male. JOY.
