My male mini Rex rabbit has two sacks of skin on his bum. We just recently got him, and he had them. No clue what they are. They don’t seem to affect him in any way. Any idea to what they are? (I would add a picture but he is being a brat and won’t hold still)

On his butt? Or tummy? Because if they are on his tummy, just in front of his genital area, then those would be his testicles.

I agree; most Likley with a young male rabbit; those are just the testes descending as they mature

We took him to the vet for a nail trim and simple health checkup to see if everything is going well. We asked about it, and they are his testicals. I feel very dumb now… it’s just I’ve worked with rabbits a lot before and I have never seen that.

Don’t feel dumb. My first bunny had them. I once took him to a regular cat/dog vet, and they hadn’t seen little flat testicles (they look like deflated balloons) either.

We all ask our vets about things that make us feel silly afterwards. The first time my first bunny flopped, I called the vet in a panic and said “Help, my bunny fell over!” They got the staff member there who was the most familiar with rabbits, and after I described him, she said, “I’m not sure, but I think he’s being cute.”

                  Hi Pam! *waves*

Don’t feel silly. A lot of people are unfamiliar with a male rabbit’s unusual anatomy (it’s quite different from a dog or cat). Plus, some bunnies conceal them pretty good, while others let it all hang out. LOL

I agree, don’t feel silly. The first time I saw a full bunny flop I thought it was a seizure. Buns are very mystic little creatures!

Better to ask a silly question than overlook something so don’t feel bad!

The moment one of Wick’s testes descended (9:30PM at night), I called the vet and left them a message, saying “I think it might be a testicle, but I don’t know. It looks like _______”, I pretty much rambled. The next day, the vet called me and was like, it’s probably a testicle. Just come in, haha.

Given most of us are more familiar with dogs, cats, and horses, etc animals which have their testicles together, it is perfectly fine and not stupid to have a reaction of fright to seeing individual testicles on a rabbit. It’s not seen in most pets and can be quite the shocker.

Thanks for letting me know I’m not the only one!
