so we’ve had our bunny for almost 2 years now, and we havent had her fixed, but she does things that  are both male and female. she will hump my arm and when finished will kind of sneeze and fall over which is what males do, and also she will nest and with paper and also plucks fur for the nest aswell which only females do. is it possible that a male will do this nesting/ a female do the humping and sneeze/fall over? im confused because we always thought she was a girl until the humping thing.

I remember one of the former forum leaders whose female bunny that used to do that. The humping may trigger ovulation and then the nesting behavior result of phantom pregnancy.

Technically, what Jersey says is very possible. Female rabbits are induced ovulators (they go into heat when they mate). So she may very well be a girl.

I feel somewhat obliged to tell you that a girl bunny needs to be spayed for health-reasons. Cancers of the reproductive organs esp the uterus is very, very common in young does. Here is an article on this subject from 2004, since then of course spaying procedures have become even safer. But it’s still a big surgery, so it’s not without risk.

It isn’t unusual for girls to be humpers. I agree with bam, you should look into getting her spayed.
