› FORUM › HOUSE RABBIT Q & A › Lulu inside?
my mom just said that Lulu could come in if i clean the kennle. but the only thing is mocha is has free range of my room so if lulu came in he would have to stay in his cage. but i think it would be better for lulu to come in than mocha having free range. she isn’t spayed yet so i thought it would be a good idea to get to know her better and know her personalety so when she does go and get spayed i will know if she is acting normal or not. but one of my questions is is a kennle big anoff for her or should i get another xpen when i go to walmart tonight?
Hi, glad to hear Lulu is coming in.
I would go with the xpen, but make sure you get a secure cover for the top, even if it’s a tarp or lucite sheet that you can secure to the edges with clips. You don’t want anyone jumping in or out until at least one of them is spayed.
I think she would be better off inside as well. You could just change up play time – let Mocha out for a few hours, then let Lulu out. Since Mocha seems pretty good at being free range, you might be able to let him out while you’re in school or at night, then Lulu could be out while you’re supervising. Just remember that both bunnies are likely to mark their territory when they’re living in the same room. I would talk this over with your mom so she doesn’t freak out when there are a hundred poos all over the floor.
I would go with another xpen, personally. Then, once she is spayed, you can bond her and Mocha and combine the xpens into one big cage.
they are in the same room. but they don’t really care because they all ready know each others sent because when they were both outside one cage was on top of the other. mocha is doing really good he just looks at her once in awaill and lulu is fine to she is just scared with all the new noises. well i am home schooled so i could keep an eye on them.
That’s great your bun is coming inside!!! I’d go for the x pen-they are super easy to clean
It’s best to have them inside-I can say myself if my buns were even in an unttached part of the house I don’t know how often I’d get out there to hang out-whereas when they are inside I get so much time with them. I just started clicker training again (After the move, change in room and illness in Chuck)-it’s great having my buns indoors
You’ll love having both inside. Make sure you keep your promise to mom though-moms can be sticklers and you don’t want her sent back outside ![]()
i know this sounds bad but sense she has been in the house i have noticed markings on her that i never noticed before.
Thats what happens with buns you keep outside. You don’t notice as much with them as you spend less time with them. They become more of a lawn ornament than a pet. Indoor bunnies are much more fun to have around ![]()
this morning mocha got out of his cage twice and ran behind lulus cage and laid down by her and the hole time living poos behind. but is this weird that i have never done any kind of bonding and they already like each other?
Some bunnies bond instantly. It isn’t always hard work if you are lucky enough. You might have told this before, but why is that Lulu has been outside and Mocha is inside?
well mocha came in after much discussion with my parents they still said they did not want them inside but one day i brought mocha in and he never went back out (even though they threaten to send him back out) then they said lulu couldn’t come in till she was litter trained i put a lot of litter boxes in the cage and she started to catch on. so yesterday my mom said why don’t you bring her in and let them smell each other so i got the cage ready and now she is inside ( i hope for good). but she isn’t spayed yet she is getting spayed in April and after that i am afraid they won’t like each other any more. but mocha is a kind bunny he likes all of are cats and when our cats try to play with them he just sits there. and before i got lulu she was with another bunny ( until they got out through a hole covered by card board) and her friend got eaten by a fox and she was in the jaws of the foxes mouth but she escaped.
it would be a good idea to get Lulu spayed and bonded with mocha; maybe you could work out a compromise with your mother about the rabbits staying indoors at night and only having to be outside in the daytime.
they are not going to stay outside at night in the summer they are just going to run around a few hours a day outside.

Spaying makes a rabbit even friendlier. You will just have to introduce them carefully.
Were do you guys get NIC cubes. i can’t find them
Mocha might like her because he still has some boy hormones and she’s unspayed 😉 But hopefully he’ll continue to like her as his hormones die down and she gets spayed.
I found NIC cubes (with all small holes) at Bed Bath and Beyond for about $14 per box. Target also carries them, but I think half the grids have the bigger holes which don’t work for cages.
you are in Australia, mocha, are you? They will most likely be sold under a different name. Here in Canada they are sometimes called “Stack & Rack” or Rubbermaid brand just calls them “wire storage cubes”. Look in home accessory stores under wire shelving.
i live in Wisconsin. and i just went and bought a x pen and i am probably going to set it up tonight or tomorrow. how long does it normally take for hormones to die down after being neutered?
Could take a month or more.
well its been almost 3 months
can any one think of anything you could use instead of NIC cubes? even if you haven’t tried it because i really want to make a second level on my x pen so any ideas for a second level?
So you want to make a top on your xpen where they can get to or you want to create a second level within the pen?
a second level within the pen
If you have anyone handy in your family who can build something – like a pine shelf – not attached to the pen but just side supports — like a bench. The only thing is you would have to put a top on your pen as if you do build a second level within the pen, then a bunny can escape more easily. There are actually tops for pens otherwise you can make your own cover with a blanket. If you are wanting it to look really nice and know how to sew, you can buy some nice material that matches what you want, cut it to size and sew in a hem and then clip it to the top of the pen.
maybe i will do that. i still think after Mocha and lulu are bonded i might make a cage and leave the door open during the day cuz my room is kinda small.
