lullabelle is a BRAT

so i spent probably 4 hours this weekend trying to bunny proof our house so lulla can have more freedom when we are home. I purchased some wire shelves and used them as lulla guards agaisnt going behind the couch and love seat – she hurt herself by crawling under one of the recliners on the love seat as i closed it not knowing she had crawled under there so i decided to be better safe than sorry and prevent her from going behind them.

SO i do all this and spend most of my sunday trying to rearrange furnature to hide these hideous cage things. when lulla is allowed to enter the room she FIGURES OUT MY SYSTEM. She found that she is still small enough to crawl under the front of the couch and also figured out how to pull the wire guards out so she can crawl behind. WHAT A BRAT!

I also constructed a play pin out of these shelves – in which she instantlly figured out how to pull them apart.

So i spent the remainder of the weekend trying to get her out from under the couches – i am in a leg cast trying to crawl across the living room after the super-speedy spoiled brat.

sounds like Meadow.  we came up with an extravagant system to prevent her from going behind the recliners and then she was able to squish herself small enough to go under from the side.  she also figured out that she could fit underneath the entertainment center [in a space no bigger than a few inches!]  we had to watch her much more carefully for a month or so until she "beefed up" a bit and could no longer fit. 

i think the key to bunny-proofing is that you need to be constantly re-evaluating your system.  for example*, now that Meadow is the Queen of the Couch, i’m going to need to proof on the sides of the couches b/c it’s only a matter of time before she goes over the arms. 

 

 

 

*Beka glances over nervously at Meadow as she perches atop the couch with a sinister look on her bunnyface.*

right after posting my response, i look over again and Meadow climbs from the couch, to the end table, to the adjacent couch.  she’s now close enough to jump onto the computer desk!  what a troublemaker!

… and she just came sliding across my desk!  thank god she didn’t knock over my coffee… for her sake… and mine!  lol…
