Lucy is about 5-6 months old Im guessing.  I got Lucy at the pet store after Rose passed and that was 2 months ago, we were guessing she was 3 or 4 months at the time.  So she is getting alfalfa pellets and hay, sometimes she gets timothy or a treat hay but for the most part its alfalfa.  Of course she still isnt eating greens, im still trying though.  I pretty sure she is bigger then Hammer now, its hard to tell because of their breed differences and Lucy is more… curved?  Curved as in her body shape, but thats kind of off topic.  She has a little dewlap now, and I was wondering if its something I should be concerned about.  Is it normal baby fat that she will grow out of?  Something thats not really an issue because of her age or should I be switching to timothy pellets and hay?  Do you guys think it may be a result for her stubbornness with veggies?  The little brat never sits still for pictures but ill try and find a few where you can kind of see it.

Its a little bit bigger in person, so these pictures dont really show it well.  Its looks huge when she is loafed lol. And she does get exercise, she isnt out 3 hours a day because she is a terror of a teenager but I keep her busy.  Like right now she is in her cage but I gave her a stuffed bunny and she is taking out her energy and anger on it lol.

Honestly she looks fine to me and she is young and still growing.

What I would do though is switch her to timothy hay – she doesn’t need alfalfa pellets and alfalfa hay both. I know too you are having a hard time getting her to enjoy veggies – she’s a stubborn little baby isn’t she…

Also when I read House Rabbit Society it does not specifically mention alfalfa pellets – just unlimited pellets and at her age unlimited hay (no specific statement of alfalfa). You can use the alfalfa as treats instead of the timothy.

Wow she’s growing isn’t she! I would think switching feed would be ok too. She just appears to be growing into the true lop form. I’m still adjusting to how that looks with Rumball too. They just appear fatter (though he actually is somewhat). Does the dewlap actually receed some after a spay?

what a beautiful lop girl!  I think from pics she looks normal for a lop.  Lops are much more compact body shape than many other bunnies.  They kinda remind me of bulldogs in that regard.

Ok guys thanks! I guess im just not used to lops lol. Ill finish out the alfalfa hay as a treat and switch to Timothy. She still has a ton of alfalfa pellets left, ill start switching over soon, she could be older then I thought anyway.

Some of what you may be seeing is her developing dewlap too. Lops are boxier but I think she looks pretty skinny in those pics (not *too* skinny, just not overweight.) How are the spaying plans coming along?

Well I got all my answers from my vet so its all worked out for our official new vet. Money- Im basically calling all my graduation money that ill probably get my Bun Fund. First is Lucy’s spay, then at least $200 for a Bun Emergency Fund, then if anything is left a trip to the BB store for things to keep them busy because I used my very last entertainment willow toy today because Hammer was acting up and I wanted him to behave himself at least until I got home from school. My graduation party isnt for about another month, so ill schedule her spay to be around that time. Still pushing greens hoping she will eat them before spaying but I cant wait forever, all three of us need it to be asap.

Wow! She looks much taller to me than the last time I saw a piccy of her! What gorgeous fur! She has such beautiful coloring.

I was distressed when I noticed Mimzy getting the tiniest of dewlaps (I call it his ‘spare tire’) but I think it’s pretty normal in loppies. He is definitely a little butterball, that one. ^_^

How much exercise is Lucy getting?

Have you ever seen pictures of French Lop bunnies? 0_o Gracious, it looks like they have their own t.v. dinner tray hanging from their necks!

Gosh dont I know it Mimz, she stands up taller then Hammer now. To be honest Lucy isnt getting the amount of time out that she should be, quite simply because I cant stand her lol. She is a living nightmare and terror! She just needs to be spayed, but is a worse case of bun teenagers then normal. She will be spayed soon and then she can be out more but for now she is lucky if I can stand her for 2 hours a day. But she has a decent sized cage and I keep her stocked up on things to do while she is in her cage.

Anyone else think it looks like she is wearing a turtleneck in the last picture? lol
