Tomorrow!  Oh my im so nervous!  She has to be there at 8am.  Her cage has two shelves so I have to move her for a while so she wont jump and hurt herself.  So im thinking ill move her to one level of Hammer’s old wood cage I made, anyone remember that?  But its got a easy to clean floor so I can clean it often to keep stuff off her incision.  And its a little less then 2×4 so it will be small enough for her to not go nuts running around, but big enough for her to be comfortable.  Im really most nervous about being able to handle her at least twice daily to check her and give her pain meds.  Because Im not even allowed to pet her sometimes without her going crazy attack rabbit on me, let alone pick her up.  And her still not eating veggies makes me nervous as well.  But everything will be okay…

Hmm, Moving her to Hammer’s old cage will cause her some stress im sure. Ill move her in there now, so she can have a day to get used to her new home for her recovery period.

I know how stressful it is to take a bunny (or any animal really) in for surgery- but I think in a short while both you and Lucy will be happier!  I was so relieved when Cotton’s hormones settled after her spay.  It still amazes me that bunnies can look so sweet and innocent (baby and adult bunnies) yet be little firecrackers- grunting, growling, stomping and biting.

I will be thinking of Lucy and wishing her a good recovery.

The Monty Python movie with the killer bunny was made as a joke I am sure- but when you see a hormonal rabbit at its worst it makes you wonder if the writer of that scene didn’t have a hormonal bunny in their past!  I assume is supposed to be absolutely ridiculous that a bunny was such a bloodthirsty monster- but one Cotton was going thru her “teenager” stage- there were many Monty Python bunny jokes in our house.

Thanks for the vibes guys! Its way past my bedtime but I just cant seem to fall asleep, grr! 6 and a half hours till we head to the vet, not long at all. But I get to meet with the vet before I leave and stay for the quick checkup. Im going to have them look at her teeth really good while she is under to make sure her veggie problems arent dental related.

Edit:  Gosh Beka your up late too

Eek!  Time to load up the car and face the music.  And Lucy is particularly nasty today, I guess she can sense something in my mood.  Geez why do bunny slaves always stress about this so much?!  I have some powerful butterflies in my stomach  and am afraid to eat a large breakfast lol.

Ohmygod!  He said rabbits shouldnt have veggies when I told him about her not wanting to eat them, and asked him to check her teeth.  I fought for a minute but gave up.  He sounded so awesome when I talked to him before.  I thought about just leaving right then, but decided it shouldnt affect the surgery.  Oh but I was mad.  And then I forget to give him the little baggy of pellets and hay for her while she is there, so I gave it to someone at the desk.  She goes on that she will not need it, they cant eat before or after the surgery because the “sleeping stuff” will back them just throw it back up.  Omg I almost lost it.  The fact that she was talking to me like I was 10 and brought in my cute wittle bunny without any knowledge, o silly little girl why are you glaring and shaking your head at me?  She tries to hand it back to me even after im telling her no she is wrong, i shoved it right back.  I told her she was not well informed and that they can not vomit, give it to Lucy the entire time and if you have any problems with anyone telling you not to then call me and ill find someone else to spay her.  GRRRRR!  and

We are back! What a nighmare. First I called to check on Lucy and see that she had food, she did not! Checked again that they have pain meds ready for her to take home. Get there and the pain meds arent on the bill, tech says oh no they dont do that. I say I want them, I cleared it already, She calls the vet who is in the back and he says no pain meds. HE SAID OK TWICE BEFORE! So I say I want to talk to him, he is a jerk and finally gave me 2 doses. Is two doses normal?! He said she could have them 8 to 12 hours apart, I excepted more doses but im really not sure. And I just looked at her tummy, it has dried blood all over! Im thinking thats not normal. It was a laser surgery and glue instead of stitches if that matters. Can I clean her up with anything? Some solution I should be using daily to prevent problems? Poor baby is a lop and wont put her ears down, she looks like a uppity ear rabbit.

OMG Liz, how horrible! I’m so sorry you had such a bad experience. I’ve had three boys neutered but I haven’t had to nurse a bunny through a spay so I don’t know what to tell you to make you feel better. I hope Liz heals OK and that you can put this whole nightmare behind you.

                              (((hugs)))

And when should I start Critical Care? She ate some early this morning, around 7am. Its almost 10pm now and she ate very little if any at the vet office today. Im already forcing pedialyte, she hates it so CC will be a challenge. No poos, a tiny bit of pee once.
