Hi all,
Have been bonding my bunnies for about a week now, 1 or 2 bunny dates a day in neutral areas.
Mordecai my male has free reign of the living area, Pinot my female has a cage set up in an xpen in the corner of the living area with access to the office.
My question/observation is;
whenever my bunnies aren’t on dates Mordecai will constantly just lay by the x-pen that blocks his area from Pinot’s as if he just wants to be close, Pinot, will sit or lay next to him, on her side of the pen, its as if they are both (though mostly Mordi) lovesick for each other and really want to be together.
However, when they are on bunny dates in another xpen in a different room, Mordi will chase and try to mount Pinot, she soon tells him where to go and is very very vocal about her disgust, the mounting is getting less, and there is often periods of them just laying next to each other whilst on their dates until Mordi gets bored and tries to mount again. Pinot will immediately put her head down wanting grooming anytime Mordi comes near her, we have had no grooming from either party yet.
From knowing my two buns, I would have assumed that Mordi would become the dominant one, Pinot is all too happy to groom us humans, and her lamby regularly, stupidly we assumed this would transfer over to Mordecai, but alas. It is clear from the first bonding attempts that both bunnies want to be the dominant one, with Mordi’s mounting and Pinots demand to be groomed.
I guess my actual question is, is everything going okay? is there anything extra I can do to help this process, or do I just keep doing what i’m doing?
Any help will be greatly appreciated
