Losing Litterbox Training

Hey guys!

So I’ve had pickles for almost 4 days now and he`s almost 3 years old in April, and he was perfectly litterbox trained.. but now he`s losing some of that and peeing in places where he shouldn`t be and leaving poop around.. which is fine, cause poop is dry, but the urine is a problem .. 

I can’t get him neutered until January at the earliest.  Anyone have any tips on how to manage his behaviour for the time being? I can’t have him peeing on everything :/

I’ve had my rabbit for almost 4 months now. When I first got him, he pooped everywhere. After about a month, he started peeing on my bed. I was told he’s just marking his territory. He hates being picked up, but I treated the situation like he was a dog and picked him up and rubbed his nose in it. He hated that and spent a long time trying to clean his face. I would say NO PEE whole rubbing his face in it. He got the message. It stopped after about 8-10 times. The pooped stopped when I would stick it in his face, and say NO POOP. Now he only poops where he eats, in his feeding cardboard box. When he chews the wood in my apt., I say NO Chew and I run up on him. He’s getting that down now too. They can understand, you just have to watch them, and be consistent. Don’t let him do it once while your around them, they catch on. Give them lots of attention. Pet them a lot. They will be like puppies after awhile. Good luck

I would advise you not rub your buns nose in the mess they make. I advise that against using it on a dog. How would you like it if your mama rubbed your wet diaper in your face during toilet training?

The thing is, he is in a completely new environment AND he’s not altered. Give him some time to settle it and keep his play time limited. Treat him like a young rabbit as if you’re starting over with the litter box. Whenever he starts showing good litter habits let him out to play, but only in a limited amount of space. Don’t just let him run free in a really big room. Start small and work your way out. Once he is fixed it will get better. It might even get better before then like when he settles in and feels more at home.
