So its been decided, Caroline is being given away, but its OK, I’ve gotten over it. We are having trouble finding her a good home, we have received multiple inquiries but I worry that they are not the right home for her, I’m also pretty sure we almost got scammed! I put a price on it because I don’t want some dude to try and make her snake food! Hopefully one of you can take her because If we don’t find her a home soon, I dont know how much more my older brother can take. Poor guy has been sneezing and developing more asthma symptoms. Please and Thank You!

Is rehoming to a shelter not an option? I’d be willing to drive down to Baltimore and pick up your bunny to surrender him to my local shelter (if they have room).

Hi ESB, where are you located? I wish I could take on a new bunny, but have limited space in our small apartment for bonding (and Thor is free range, so no neutral space…). I’m well connected with our local shelters though, if you need help re-homing or finding foster care. I’m located in New England

EatSleepBunny – I had to remove your link. BB cannot be used for rehoming. We can, however, offer advice for finding an appropriate home for Caroline. I’m sorry you had to make such a difficult decision.

Wait, did you say you’re in Baltimore or nearby, EatSleepBunny? I STRONGLY suggest contacting Friends of Rabbits, I don’t know if I can put the link here but they’re more or less local to you. They’re based in Columbia, and they’ll be able to help you rehome Caroline. I adopted Panda and Fernando from them last year. I took the buns to Columbia for bunnysitting with them last month and can confirm firsthand that they have first-rate facilities for bunny care.

Hopefully, Friends of Rabbits can help you, but rescues do stay full a lot of the time, especially soon after Easter. If they have a waiting list, is there anyone that you know and trust who could foster Caroline for a short time until space was available at the rescue?

Have you discussed this with your vet? Sometimes they may know of families who can give a rabbit a good home or they may let you put up a notice in their office. That would be safer than putting a notice on a general website.

That’s true; when I took Panda and Fernando up to “Bunny Central” (Friends of Rabbits’ main household in Columbia, MD) last month, about three weeks after Easter, for bunnysitting, their intake room was fairly full and so was their main bunny housing in the basement. That being said, I’m pretty sure that if they don’t have a really long waiting list, they could find somebody in Maryland, the District or Virginia who can foster Caroline while a permanent home for her is sought.  I would still talk to them anyway because they have a lot of contacts, one of whom ought to be suitable.
