Looking at building a bunny cage, ideas for those cube cages?

Hey everyone, Im looking at building a cage with those cube things from target or walmart. I need some ideas on what to build, can you post pictures of your bunny’s cage? Thanks so much!

Be careful of the spacing on those if you have a small breed. I have a Netherland dwarf (4 lbs) and was told that although you CAN go up to 1 1/2 inch spacing it’s safer to stick to 1 inch Max because if they put their paws through and slip the 1 inch spacing is small enough to prevent their elbows getting caught and having them panic. Most of those cubes are 1 3/8 to 1 1/2 inches. I’m going to be building one soon so I made sure to check up on it

Again this Is if it’s a small breed or not fully grown yet.

Samantha where do you live? In the U.S.? I would suggest getting the NIC cubes from Bed, Bath and Beyond. They were actually cheaper there (for me) then Wallie World or Target. Also, the grids sold there have smaller squares. Which is what you want or else your bun may be able to stick their head through the grid or even get out.

Okay just wanted to give you a heads up. =] I know in the U.K. and other countries in Europe that it is hard to find NIC cubes.

I would say it’s an easy cage for beginners (like me)
We have one of the grids acting as a door so that he can go in and out easily when he’s roaming around the house..

Have you tried searching for NIC cage ideas on the Search option on BB? If you look there are some really great designs that our members have come up with.

I got mine from Kmart because the box said they were the 1″ squares, though I just measured them and found out they were actually the 1 1/2″. But it seems to actually work for Pippa, because the levels we have in her condo aren’t covered to provide better traction (she would eat everything ). So when she gets super excited and would usually slip around, she learned to place her paws in the right area to jump to the top level so she wouldn’t slide (parkour bun? lol). Thankfully her paws have never gotten caught, though I don’t think every bunny would be able to do the same thing, especially the really tiny ones.

Ill search around, my babies are only 8 weeks old and the four of them can squeeze through anything. Looking into building one after they spayed and neutered and are a bit bigger

I am in the processing of building one right now and found a lot of helpful info from binky members and figured a lot out while making it. Bed Bath and Beyond has the black grids by Design-A-Cubes for $19.99, 17 grids in each box. Mine is going to be 4 grids x 2 x 5 so we got 3 boxes. Be prepared to use A LOT of zip ties!! We had to go back twice to get more, we ended up with 6 bags. I got mine from Wal-Mart: long ones, black, 100 count, $3.99/pack. Make sure your grids are facing the same way when you zip tie them together. We had overlapping problems and figured out this was our issue, no problems since! I recommend using a pliers to tighten the zip ties too, your hands get sore after awhile. Make sure the ends of your zip ties are all on the same side to prevent bunnies from running into them and poking themselves! I’m sure I’ll have more tips once we actually finish ours, it’s about half zip tied together so we have a long way to go! Good luck

you can get the NIC cubes off of Amazon cheaper than anywhere AND they are the smaller grid size!

I want white ones as the room its going in is tiffanys blue and white, has to match. hate the black xpen in there
