I have one bun and I am worried he is getting lonely because he can only be in one room and I have school every day so I can’t spend a lot of time with him. Can he get depressed from being alone for too long?

Rabbits are social animals and should have same species companionship (though must be spayed and neutered as intact rabbits can be pretty aggressive towards each other!). So even if you weren’t in school all day and spent every moment with him, it still wouldn’t make up for the fact he doesn’t have a rabbit friend of his own.

They are very social animals and should have a companion, unless the rabbit has for example a medical condition that makes it impossible. So in my honest opinion, yes, I would say your bun is likely feeling lonely and would highly benefit of a friend

Keep in mind that bunnies are pretty inactive during the day. So laying around, etc. is normal. They will become active in the evening. Coincidentally, school is typically during the day. So your schedule should line up so that you can spend time with him when he is most active. I would encourage you to utilize this time to help combat loneliness.

I agree that most bunnies do benefit from having a friend. Both bunnies need to be spayed/neutered though so there is no fighting or babies.

Is there a different way I could help?
