So, what does a “honking” rabbit actually sound like? Lately when I get ready to give Hatter his morning banana piece (cut up which I hand feed him) he starts sounding like a little pig. It is never really loud and I don’t know how else to describe it. At first I thought he was grunting at me but this doesn’t sound like his normal “you aren’t doing exactly what I want you to do slave” noise. Plus he jumps all over me and runs around my feet when I walk into the living room with his banana piece plate.

OH, and sorry if this has already been asked by someone else!

I’ve heard a few different “honks”.

Hannah does the piggy sound while eating greens. It definitely sounds like a nasaly snorting.

Otto ran circles around me a couple times making kind of a buzzing/humming sound. It was very quiet and I wouldn’t have heard it if the tv was on. It’s a soft sound that didn’t sound nasaly really.

The last sound I’ve heard is Otto grunting if he’s angry about something. It’s not that loud, but it’s a deep sound and sounds like mm mm mm. It sounds kind of like the happy honk, but much deeper and louder.

Those are the only ones I’ve heard! It’s usually pretty obvious from context what my bunnies are trying to say.

Load honking sounds just like a goose honking, soft honking is like buzzing, I have never heard a piggy sound yet! LOL! Every sound they make means something, that’s how they talk to us! I love aall of their little noises! My last bun honked load when he saw the broom! He would get so mad at us for sweeping his mess up! Lily has a soft honk, buzzing when she chases our cat.

My big girl Pringles barks, growls and snorts! The first time at the vets, she was doing all three plus thumping and kicking the box so that the vet techs didn’t really want to open it. They didn’t believe my handwritten sign: Fragile rabbit

Lucy makes that soft honking sound. I interpret it to mean she is happy. Or at the very least curious and playful.
She does it alot right when I get home from work and let her out of her cage to be free for the evening. When she has the most energy and is running and binkying around and waiting for dinner.

When I first got her I had read about “grunting” and was super confused at first that that is what it was. But it’s definetly not an angry sound!
