Litters based on trackability?

 In everyone’s experiences, which litters are less trackable than others? By trackable, I mean has a tendency to stick to the rabbits paws and thus get tracked around the room in small amounts when it goes out to play. It’s not a big deal if you have hardwood floors but a pain if you have carpeting.

In my experience, aspen shavings are quite trackable and make you have to vacumn carpeting a lot. Hay is trackable too but easier to pick out of carpeting by hand than aspen shavings are. What litters have you found to be less trackable than others? Just curious. I’ve been thinking about this now that it’s getting closer to when I’ll be fostering a bunny in May! I plan to look for a very large rabbit, so it will probably just have my bedroom as its cage and then free run of the house when I’m home (my room is not that big and I figured for a rabbit like a Flemmie, this would probably just be easier than a HUUUGGEEE NIC cube pen. So since the litterbox will be right on the floor, the less trackable the litter, the better!

Maybe wood pellets? They don’t seem like they have high track-ability (totally made up).

I like them a lot, but I also have a litter cover so they never step in it…

I use the aspen shavings and don’t really have a problem with it tracking, though when I walk into her xpen I get it stuck to my slippers at times.

My suggestion is different: put the litter pan well away from the opening of the habitat. That way, if it does track, it’s within the cage first, and doesn’t continue onto the floor outside of it. I love the aspen because it absorbs odor so much better, although it’s the aspen pellets that work the best in that regard.
I’d try pellets instead of shavings if it’s a problem. Aspen (best odor absorber, safe and long lasting), Yesterday’s News or Feline Pine. (Never use pine or cedar shavings however.) The pellets are easy to pick up by hand, but clatter in your vacuum cleaner.

I’ve had no issues with wood stove pellets getting tracked, unless they’re very soiled, in which case the box needs to be changed anyways!

I actually have a coconut mat next to Zeus’s litterbox, that kinda doubles as a nice little “wipe your paws” mat. .  The coconut fibers are kinda roughish, and they wipe anything off his feet nicely.

I use wood stove pellets and they are never tracked. I do put hay over top of the litter though, so the bunnies aren’t really in contact with it much.

Wood pellets here too, have been really pleased with how these work for litter!

I use paper pellets and I never have to clean litter off the floor.

 You can also get a needlepoint canvas and lay it over the litter. This also makes it easier to scoop the poops.

I use news paper that i shread in my paper shreader but i clean the boxes daily so there is no odor. It tracks but i think that is cause right after i put the box back in his cage he flops around in it and pushes it out. He is a bugger like that, he knows it drives me nuts.
