I am trying to persevere with the old litter box training and my bunny is sometimes peeing in the box and sometimes not I am trying to catch him in the act and get him to the litterbox and everything and he is doing well since it has only been a week since I started training him but I have a bit of a problem..
Where he has chosen to wee in his hutch (which is indoors) is right by the door so he is constantly sitting by the door in the litter tray and not in the enclosed cosy bit and although there is no drafts or anything I am still worried about him sitting by the door also when he goes to get out he pulls loads of paper all over the place whereas when there was no litter box there it didn’t go everywhere I don’t mind cleaning that up really its more that I am worried about him sitting there so is there anyway I can move the litter tray I have tried putting two in but he only sits in one I have tried moving it and he just goes over by the door anyway also does your bunny only wee in the box but poop everywhere else? Because he only poops in there if he is sitting in it and not when he is anywhere else. He isn’t yet old enough to be neutered but he will be going to get done in 6 weeks. Any litterbox training tips would be nice please!

I have included a pic of him in his box just for fun hehe!

My advice would be to gradually move the box where you want it. Each day moving it inch by inch.

I’m not sure of the size of his hutch, but that litter box seems awfully small to me.  How much litterbox should there be, in comparison to the size of the bun?

Ditto what Binky Bunny suggested! I must say I was reading your post and saw the picture and totally forgot your question and had to go back and read it twice because it is such a darn cute picture!!! As for the size of the box, it does seem that Hopscotch is crammed in there a bit not because of the size of the box but because of the dish being there, do you always keep it there? If so you *might* want to move it to just outside of the box. However, I can see why you may as bunnies like to poo & eat at the same time.

no he likes to sit on the rim when he is eating out of the bowl.. i dont know why lol but when he is just sitting there he can sit in happily he can even flop down in there which i have seen him do on more than one occasion! we have two other boxes in the same room which are those big ones for cats and the same size is in the hutch too so there is plenty of room! i have tried moving the box slowly and it seems to be working so fingers crossed!

I have to agree that the litter box seems a bit small. I use a Rubbermaid dish pan which has deep sides. At first with only Hopscotch, who weighs 3-4 pounds, a smaller dish pan worked. Well Hopscotch now has a new girlfriend, Mango, who is A New Nealand Red and weighs twice as much as he does. They like to eat their pellets and hay in the litter box at the same time! I got the bigger dishpan and smaller bowls. Since they eat only 1/4 and 1/2 a cup of pellets respectively the bowl does not have to be as big. They always pee in the pan and poop there too! However, if I feed them their salads in theiir basket outside of the litter box they will have the occaisional poo on the rug. I often wonder if I should feed them the veggies in the litter box too as they never have accidents when given their pellets. We like to sit with them when they enjoy the veggies and don’t like talking to them while in the “potty.’

he weighs 1.3lbs and the litterbox is 18 by 10 inches the bigger ones in the other corners of the room are twice the size as is the one in his hutch each complete with pellets and hay
