I use yesterdays news for my buns….  with their skirts the litter sticks to their fur and gets all over and I am vacuuming every day.  Is there a heavier litter anyone knows of that won’t stick and scatter?

Bunnytowne, I can’t really think of anything other than wood stove pellets and I am not sure how good it is at not getting in the skirt of fur around your little darlings. Perhaps someone else has an answer?

I know Yesterday’s News makes a version for “small animals” and a version for cats. So maybe if you aren’t already using the cat version, switch to that because I’ve heard the only difference between the two is the pellets are a bit bigger in the cat version – so hopefully a bit heavier too? That’s the only idea I have…

The rabbit version and the cat version are exactly the same size and shape (I think they’re the same thing…just the rabbit version costs more!). I know the cat version has two varieties…original texture and some other texture that is “softer”. I’m assuming that the softer version is fluffier and therefore, clingier…

Yeah – I’ve never bought the rabbit version because it does cost so much more, so I wasn’t sure. Good call on the texture thing though – maybe that’s the problem. I’ve never had a problem with YN sticking to my buns, but they aren’t near as fuzzy either!

BT before Kahlua shed out or got neater habits…i had the same problem!!

Try lining the litter tray with your reg litter (ie. yesterdays news) and then put a layer of newspaper on top! They can’t track a whole section out AND the stuff underneath will absorb

I can try the newspaper thing and the cat variety Yn too… I can see it now they both chew and throw and drag the newspaper around hehehehe   Ruby is starting to shed out so maybe that will help some too. Of course just me at home right now so I haven’t vacuumed since yesterday    I just wear my house shoes and it doesn’t stick to me at least.

I use stuff that’s like feline pine but it’s a bit cheaper and the pellets are longer.  It’s called exquisite pine I think..I get it from petsmart.  It’s also heavier then feline pine I think.   I’m gonna go check their site to make sure that’s it..becuase I have a sinus infection and the idea of walking across the room to check the bag is just tooooo much lol, I’ll let my fingers do the walking and check out petsmart.com lol.

I was close…exquisicat is what it’s called.  And it’s cheaper at the store too.  It’s only 6.99 for that bag if you get it from the store…atleast around here it is, I’m not sure if it’s maybe the area that makes it cheaper/more expensive.

I know it says “natural scent” but I really don’t notice any scent at all from it..and I am sensitive to that kind of thing.

Is yesterdays news actually pellet shaped? It doesn’t appear to be in pictures. In Australia, our supermarkets stock a pelleted paper litter. It’s a little heavier but the pellet doesn’t hold form once it is wet. I’ve heard the wood pellets can get stuck in fur too once it’s wet.
Putting hay or newpaper on top may help, or else just a piece of flexible mesh you can take out and wash. Though the little terrors may try to remove anything foriegn they find in the litter box. At least mine will !

It sure is Jerseygirl! The “softer” texture has shorter pellets and the “regular” has longer pellets.
