Is Carefresh litter good quality? Has anyone here used it?

I use it on top of yesterday’s news (unscented) pellets. I found that carefresh is very nice for their bum and hocks (why I started putting it on top) but for my bun it wasn’t absorbent enough or heavy enough as Bunjamin likes to De-construct his litterbox everyday- he was able to just push it all out or grab the newspaper underneath and make a whole lot of mess!

It’s good quality, but I find it expensive and dusty. I prefer pelleted types of litter like Yesterday’s News or wood stove pellets.

I used to use carefresh I have a larger bun who does a bigger litterbox. I was going through a 60 liter bag in 2 weeks sometimes less. It was costing me about $40 a month. I did switch to horse pine pelleted bedding didn’t really like the smell and was nervous about the pine. I have been using for about 6 months Yesterdays New unscented litter and I love it i get a 30# bag for 15.99 it last me 8 weeks and is alot cheaper than carefresh I also don’t have to change it as often!

i use carefresh, and only carefresh in my litter boxes. I have a picky girl It works fine for me! Perfectly absorbent, as long as you remember to clean the boxes every few days.

Carefresh does work great, but like the above post says, you need to change it more frequently, like every other day at least. I’ve tried Kaytee brand with he lavendar scents, but it was real dusty and my bun always ate it, which I didn’t think was good for her. She doesn’t nibble at the Carefresh at all tho. It isn’t too pricey in my opinion, because you can get a really big bag from like PetSmart for around $20 (get the white kind, because for some reason, even though everything on the packages say the exact same thing, they charge you more if you get the colored litter). I don’t find it to be dusty at all. If your bun has longer hair like mine, some of the pieces will cling to her bum, but come off as soon as she hops. Just know you will have to sweep the floor a good bit

It’s funny because I have never seen Yesterdays News litter before. I do live in a small town so my “pet supply” store is really just a hardware store/general kind of store. They did have the Kaytee brand litter but I was afraid it would have that strong wood smell. I had been using a pine litter (which was terrible and I always worried it wasn’t good for him but he seemed to not mind much) and it only made his box smell worse. My room smelled like a barn! I just recently switched to Carefresh and I am really loving it (Todd is too!) but it is a bit on the expensive side! I may go to petsmart and see if I can find the yesterdays news to put underneath like Frankieflash said! Thank you all for the suggestions!

I used carefresh when I first got the buns… but… I had to clean the box daily for Mr Picky Bottom and it got expensive. I use yesterdays news now

I’ve used it, I hated it. My bunny would throw it out and I was changing his litter twice a day because it smelled so bad and got soggy and gross fast, plus it is expensive! I use feline pine now, I love it… I only have to change it every 3 days and a bag lasts longer and 1/3rd the price.

I used to use carefresh but I went through it so fast that it wasn’t worth the money, plus it tended to be a bit messy. Instead, I use wood stove pellets during the winter because they’re fairly cheap, like 4 dollars for a 30 lb bag, and the rest of the time I use pellet bedding for horses, which I get from my local tractor supply. If you’ve got one of those, then you’re set!

I like Carefresh because it’s soft, and environmentally friendly; made from recycled material.  But it’s so dusty, Zeus gets runny eyes every time I use it.  Also it’s not as absorbent as wood pellets.

I prefer wood pellets, but Carefresh would be my second choice most likely if I didn’t have access to wood pellets.

You have to be SUPER careful they never eat it, I’ve heard it can cause blockages.

Are you talking about wood pellets or Carefresh?? Sorry I just wasn’t sure if you were responding to the original post or the one above about wood pellets and I’m curious seeing as I use the Carefresh
