We live in a remote area with no one offering the service of spaying my bunny. I’ve called everywhere. Just wondering if anyone has has luck with training their unspayed bunny. My bun will be 6 months old in a couple weeks. She was doing amazing at first but now is not using the litter box as often. Looking for any suggestions and advice. Thank you.

Hello, Zero! Yes, I have two unspayed females that use their litter boxes perfectly, so don’t give up. Try buying more litter boxes (however many will fit in her cage) and taking up more room in her cage with litterboxes. That way wherever she goes will be IN the litterbox and she will hopefully get less lazy. When she gets the memo try gradually taking out litter boxes until there’s only one left and that should fix your problem.

You need to find a vet that will spay her. For health reasons. It’s really not negotiable. You may need to travel a distance to find someone competent and experienced,

My vet wouldn’t let us spay until they where 1 year for liability and safety reasons. It was that hard to litter train them, you just have to be diligent. Every morning when you wake up sweep up any poops and dump them in the litter box. If there is any pee clean it with 1/2 vinegar 1/2 water solution. Then do the same thing every few hours, if your in school just do it when you get home. then do it before bed and any other time you can. Eventually they will figure it out. You should move their hay racks near the litter box because rabbits like to eat hay when they use the litter. And make sure you use no-scented paper based cat litter. Not the clumping kind that looks like sand.

There will be differing opinions. Rudeness will not be tolerated. Stating a differing opinion is fine. It is one point of view that a person may feel is fact and stated as such. But there will be other points of view. If OP and a member do not agree, that’s okay. No need to argue about it.

                  Be kind.

                  Don’t scold
Do not resort to “reactionary” comments and judgmental tones. That is usually venting method, not a good communication method.

In written form, words can come of harsher than they seem. Both author and reader need to be aware of this. It’s best to ask the author or OP questions to clarify instead of assuming. For example. “I feel like you are judging or seem harsh. Do you mean to come off this way or am I reading it wrong?”

Or if you feel the OP or member is overlooking something, then there are productive ways — Ask, do not assume. Help with suggestions to the problem, and stay away from scolding tones and words.   And if your suggestions are not heard or used, you did what you could. It’s up to the member to take the advice and use it. Let it be.
