        Hi,

I have read the section on litter training but still hoping for some help.

My rabbits have the run of the bottom half of the house and have a cage each. I have been placing various litter trays about the dining area and kitchen which seem to be their prefered rooms. Up until yesterday I did not have a litter tray in their cage as to my mind they are too small to take up the valuable room.

After reading the section on litter training on this site, it does mention teaching them in a limited environment first so I have placed new litter trays in their respective cages. The trouble is they both have decided to sleep in the trays and poo in their cages.

Despite being house free they just seem to mess wherever they are sitting and considering their favourite place seems to be under a very large sideboard, it is not easy to see what is happening!!!

I was just hoping that someone had litter trained their rabbitt whilst the bunny was house free. Or maybe I am completley doing this all wrong as they do not have an xpen etc.

        Thanks

        Shelley

if their cages are too small for a litterbox and room for the rabbit, the cage is too small. i would recommend you limit their freedom until they are using the box more consistently. if you check out the bunny info section there are tips on littertraining.

Can you get xpens? They are a great way to give more space while limiting freedom. I would start from the beginning and limit their freedom but it does sound like their cage is just too small. I know they can be rather expensive so if $$ is an issue, you could check on Craigslist if you have one for your area.

Also, how old are your bunnies and are they neutered?
