I recently got a new Mini Rex rabbit. I have had him for about 3 weeks and he is about 3 months old. He is the sweetest thing ever and picked up on litter training fast. When in his cage he always pees in his litter box and most of the time poops in there too. When I let him out of his cage to run around he pees on my white carpet! I leave his cage open for him to use his litter box. What should I do? Also, any new rabbit owner tips/tricks?

When a rabbit is allowed to free-roam, I think giving one or two additional litter boxes in the free roam area is helpful. Especially when he’s done relaxing, Wick isn’t good with budgeting get-to-litterbox-time, especially when he wakes up from a nap, so he has two litter boxes in the living room/kitchen to use, along with the one in his cage.

You’ll need to train him to go to the litterbox when he wants to go, so after he pees or right before he does, bring him to the pen litter box.

Also, is he neutered? Un-neutered males will mark, even if they are litter trained.

It can also help to increase the size of the space more slowly.

He is un-neutered, but I am hopefully going to get that done soon. Thanks for the advice!
