I’ve been trying to litter train Holly.  I read the litter box training info on this site.  I did what it said about putting a papertowel with bunny’s urine on it. I even put in her poop.  I noticed she is peeing in it, but right in front of it is a bunch of poop. What can I do ? I know it is a patience game, so it is cool.

many people say that a rabbit is littertrained when they pee exclusively in their box and get most poops in there.  it’s common for there to be a few stray poops around.  also sometimes they might get kicked out when jumping in or out.  have you seen her actually putting them next to the box, or is it just after the fact?

This morning I fed her. A few minutes later, I came back, and there was a small pile in the area she was eating. It was too together to be just kicked out.

i would stick to picking up those poop piles & putting a couple of them in the litter where they belong.  i think its a great step that she’s peeing in the litter & that she’ll just take longer for the poops.  rabbits do like to poop while they eat… is it possible to shift the food closer to her litter?  i’ve mananged to have my buns food in an area that they can poop in -basically a litter box but i don’t put litter pellets in there because they have a separate tray with litter pellets in it where they pee.  they will also poop in their pee-litter pan (doing 2 businesses at once, haha) and i notice if the pee litter gets too full they’ll leave a pile of poops *next* to the litter.  i assume it’s retaliation.

i agree with babybunsmum.  i put Meadow’s hay ball on one side of the litterbox, her pellets on the other side.  she will very often sit in her litterbox and reach over to grab a bite to eat.

                    Update:
Holly is doing great. Today there were few poops in her enclosure. I actually saw her do both number one and number two in her box. I’m very happy about that. yay Holly!!!

No, not yet. As soon as I can. I have done research to do this, but my hubby says not right now. I have plan though. I ran it through my husband and he approves. All our money is budjeted. I have a side job when I”m not teaching. I asked my husband that when I work there, the money goes to spaying Holly. He’s agreed to that.
