So I have Bunny in her own little area on a fleece blanket because of her legs being splayed.  She has a large cat litter box that she likes to go in and sit and eat hay.  Lots of poo in there and she does pee in there on occasion and sometimes on her little blanket in the cat carrier I have in there for her.  She has a stuffed frog she sleeps with.  She seems to be pretty good at weeing in the box but there are poos EVERYWHERE when I go to clean her up, usually twice a day.  She’s only 13 weeks old, so I’m thinking this will get better with time but should I put all those little poos in the box so she sees that is where I want the poo? Does this even work on baby bunnies?

Also, I let her out of her cage for 4 to 6 hours each night.  I work nights from home and am in my office so I can keep an eye on her and see she’s not getting in too much trouble.  LOL Is this too long to leave her out running around at once??

        Thank you for any help!!

The age is definitely a factor, her hormones will set in soon and you won’t see much improvement till after her spay. I suggest to limit her area so she won’t establish too many toilet stations. Do you line her litter box with hay? This will help very much as they love to munch and potty simultaneously.

i too wonder if her splayed legs are causing it to be more difficult to get into the box quickly enough – alot is certainly age related as well. Do you have a low side on your box to make it easier for her to get into the box?

She has some of that care fresh type litter in the bottom and a lot of timothy hay on one side of the box. She does go a lot in there. It’s just EVERYWHERE all over the cage and in the carrier she sleeps in too.

I did cut down one side of the box which is how she usually gets in and out. She has gotten really rambunctious and sprang right over the high side as well to get out though. LOL She’s SO CUTE!! I have been putting a lot of the poos in her litter box so she might get the hang of it a little bit. What age can they be spayed? Thank you! and Thank GOD For Care Credit. LOL

For females it is usually recommended to wait 6 months so you have a ways to go. I totally agree Care Credit rocks.

Definitely put the stray poos back into her box. She’ll learn it’s where they belong.

But little ones sometimes need more than one litter box around so they don’t have to try to get back to the only one, so you might put another in the room where she plays the most as an option.

My guess is that being out of her cage for that long will help strengthen her legs and body, so I don’t think it’s too much out of cage time.

But photos of her would help us fully understand her cuteness.

Make sure to have an additional litterbox in her exercise space. At this age, you can never have too many litterboxes.
