        HI,

How do you litter train a bunny who does not use the same corner when he goes potty?

Could it be his age? He is only 10 weeks old.

I have only had him for a few days so its not like I have been struggling. I was just wondering so I can make this a success so he can be out of a cage alot.

Thanks in advanced for the help.

          Goofy me!

I just read another post that basicly answered my questions on litter training.

But any other advice in him not going in the same place could help me out! I guess this could be his age also and that we was kept in a slatted floor hutch at his breeders. And we probably went were ever he wanted.

          Thanks again,

          Nicole

that’s such a cute little signature you have! (mmm… Beka thinks about Johnny Depp…)

and your bun is adorable! welcome here. for more littertraining tips you can check out the bunny info section at the top of the page and click on littertraining. there are also other sections there that go into great detail abott proper bunny care. is this your first rabbit?

it is true that it takes time to littertrain, but age and neutering will go a long way to help.

Thanks for the compliment! I noticed your in Ohio, I am from Mason, tho I live in NC now. But anyways,

This is not my first bunny but the first I actually have had to litter train my self. We had one other bunny that just seemed to get it right off the bat. I grew up with rabbits but they were always outside.

So this is my first attempt to litter train my self. I am fostering another bunny that is litter trained for the most part but he pees on the floor on occasion but I think its more because he is not neutered yet and its a little bit. So I think its marking more than anything. Now its worse since bringing the new guy home. We fostered in the mean time because we waited 5 monthes on a waiting list to get Capt. Jack because we could not find any to rescue in this state. The rescues around here dont get them hardly ever and I have wanted a flemish for about 5 years now.

So that is our short version story.

Thanks for the direction. And I tried moving his litter pan to an awkward position in his cage and he has not gone on the floor and when I saw him pee I gently praised him and stuck my hand down and he bumped my hand so I petted him. So I hope this is working. The litter pan looks weird in there at an angle but if it works we will do it.

              Thanks again!

PS: My daughter named him, we love the trilogy. I happen to be a fan of Orlando and Keira, but my daughters both like JD as Capt. Jack. And we thought it would be fun to name it that, cause we are all about having fun.

the nice thing about his name is you could even shorten it to Jack if you wanted, keeping the Captain Jack Sparrow as his “proper name”. he’s so pretty! how big is he? i have a fascination with flemishes. we’ve had a few members come on board with them, but they always seem to disappear shortly after (i imagine b/c their buns got so big they no longer had space in their home for a computer… lol!) we love bun pics, so as fast as you can snap them…

                        what a cutie pie

Most bunnies do not really get the hang of litterbox training until they’ve been neutered. Also, since he is new to your house he is likely to mark a lot more for a lil while. It is possible he doesn’t know quite what to make of the box – since it doesn’t sound like they had them at the breeder’s. I would sweep up any poops and put them in the box. you can also add a lil hay or spring of greens to encourage him to use it. When trying to box train, I ‘d recommend adding more boxes and decreasing the roaming territory while they’re getting the hang of it.

Welcome! Yes, more piccies please! Like others have said, he’s young and until he’s neutered, he’ll be more of a challenge, but still follow through with the littertraining attemps so that when he is neutered, he won’t settle into bad habits.
