Almost a month ago I got a netherlands dwarf bunny as a gift its female about two months old. When its in its cage it uses the litter box normally. But when i let her outside of the cage she ignores her litter box at first it wasnt that bad she peed one or two times in the first week but just a little then after a few days of not doing it she suddenly started again. Then she stopped doing that but instead started pooping on the carpet at first only one or two droppings but then started doing it more and more, and now she started doing both, I always tr to look out for her doing it and tell her no and remove her back to her cage for doing it but its hard because she does it so unexpectedly without an signs before that. Sometimes she does it soon after i let her out of the cage sometimes it takes her a long time before doing it. Even if the litter is clean if the cage is open she pretty much ignores it, like she would go to it and stuff but wont use it. But its all seems pretty random to me and i have no idea how to fix it.

Sounds like your bun is marking her territory with pee and poop. She’s still too young to be spayed and since she is unspayed, her litter habits will be a bit out of whack for now. What you can do is just continue to wipe up the pee with a paper towel and sweep up her poop into her litter box so she knows that’s where she’s supposed to go.

Even then, she may still occasionally pee or poop outside of the cage, but until she is spayed, there isn’t really a way to prevent this.
