My rabbit pen is by my laundry room and I find bits of hay and poo in my washing machine as well as on my ironing board. I got a a nice batch of cardboard recently and put up a wall of it around the entire pen. The pen is three grids high but the cardboard walls only reach two grids up. The pen has no top and has a window right by it. I like this new solution but I am a bit concerned if it inhibits their ventilation too much.

I don’t think it would inhibit their ventilation, I mean the whole top of the pen is open and there is probably a sufficient amount of air flowing in. Imagine your own house with no roof- that would provide sufficient ventilation.
The only thing I would be worried (not really worried) about would be that they cannot really see out of the pen unless they are up high. But if it works for you the that’s great!

Windows would be kinda cool! I wonder if there was a way to safely paint the outside of the cardboard, and make it look like a little cottage with window cutouts and stuff? That’s be really neat! Not that anyone would care, except for us… lol.

maybe you could paint the out side of it and around the windows leave a 1-2 inch without pant and put a wood frame around the window so they couldn’t keep chewing till they got to the paint! ( or if wood is to heavy maybe coroplast or something)

maybe you could get some stencils of bunnys and all you would have to do is paint in the bunny’s and then add some green strokes for grass.

yeah… it’s unlikely, I don’t have it in me… it would be so pretty but… it would be a first for me.
                          you have nice ideas…

If it’s just the outside you’re decorating, you could get some adhesive backed scrap book paper and just peel and stick.

But what about a sheet of small screen instead, so they could see out and air could circulate, like on a screen door? Holes aren’t big enough even for flying poos.

yes, RP, it would be better but the screening I have to buy. The cardboard I already have… maybe I should go to walmart.. LOL
