hi everyone, its been 2 weeks since Bentley became part of the family! I found out he doesn’t like the litter box. I place a single layer of the horse pellets and cover it with hay. he refuses to even step foot in it. I cut the front so it would be easier to get in but he doesn’t care lol. he started to use the other corner so I ordered another litter box to put there and for the time being having been using some cardboard to cover that corner. I had some small shirts that I dont wear anymore and placed some pellets underneath. he seems to like that much more and uses it more. I tried putting the litter box in the corner he prefers but again he ignored it. the hay rack is right above the litter box but he doesn’t really care. most times hell just eat the hay without going into the litter box since the hay rack is on the side of the litter box. any advice? also he is really good about not peeing outside of the cage. he’s out from 8 am to midnight and even when he is in the dining room, hell run back to the cage to pee. sometimes he won’t pee in the corner but I just wipe it up and place it in the litter box but he doesn’t care about.

do you think he juts doesn’t like the horse pellets? I tried putting some pellets onto of the old shirts, he was about to run in and pee but he stopped and ran out of the cage. he then came back and peed somewhere else. . could it be that he just doesn’t like the smell an the feel of it?

        any advice welcomed!

I would suggest trying out different litter pellets, to see if it is that.

Odds are his feet are sensitive to the pellets, as they are pretty hard on a bun’s feet. Either put a mesh lining on top (check the binky bunny store) or you can add some paper bedding on top to ease his feet.
