This is my second day having my adorable baby bunny. He loves people but I am trying to litter box train him. I put it in a corner. Everywhere I look it says they will naturally go in one spot and in usually corners. The problem is Romeo(my bunny) just goes everywhere! I put his poop into the box so he knows the smell and hay in the box to encourage him I point to the poop and say in a stern voice no. He cant be moved to a bigger area till I have him trained so I would aprecciate help. I do not punish him or anything just try to be positive.

Yes they really don’t understand punishment. Food rewards they do. Babies can be harder to train so it will take some time. You may want to put 2 boxes in and see if he chooses one. Is he peeing in the box but not pooping? If he’s peeing in it, that’s a positive step. It important to mop up pee and poop and continue putting it in the box. How old is Romeo?

Hi Nicki how r u?   I am assuming your bunny is a baby.   At first they will poop all over especially younger ones.  I dont’ think they can hold it and their systems works fast so they poop very frequently.  Once he gets around 6 months it slows down.

You are doing good with his litterbox.  OH and no pine/cedar scented litters or cat clumping litters.  Start in a small space til he gets it.  Then expand the play area as he gets it.

Also when in a new territory they may poop to mark. Once it smells like them and no other bunny it should die down.

Right now tho it is cuz he is young.  He will get it though.  You are doing good in putting his poop in his litterbox.

also i just observed he goes the most on the bottom level of his cage and goes a smaller amount on the other levels

Does his cage have a solid floor? Do you put bedding or litter down on the floor and other levels? Thay can get confused if there is litter/bedding all over plus the box. They probably think of it as one big litter tray. If you haven’t alrealdy, contain litter to only the litter box. As bunnytowne said too – avoid pine and cedar shavings.
Put any soiled litter in to box also or mop up pee on paper towel then put that in the box under the litter. You can wipe down the floor using vinegar and water solution to take away the pee smell. That way the smell should only be in the box so he’ll hopefully get the idea to go just there. He’s a young bub so don’t expect too much.

I found it helpfull to put a hay rack above the box so, bunny has to sit in the box to eat the hay but the hay remains clean.
