So, I adopted my bunny not too long ago. When my husband and I were looking at him with the previous owner, we noticed he had a little bump on his lip, it looked like his tongue was sticking out. I asked what it was and she said he’d been bitten by her other rabbit. She assured me it was fine and it would heal. She said it looked much better than it had two weeks ago when it happened.

I felt a little uneasy about it, but I was in love with him and took him in with the naive thought that it would most definitely heal soon. He was nervous and shy at first, but he’s active, hungry, thirsty and litter trained now.

However, the bump on his lip is still there. It hasn’t grown, but I don’t believe it’s gotten much better, either. He doesn’t seem to show any other signs of discomfort and even binkies and races around the living room, but I know bunnies can hide the pain well.

I Google searched this a little while ago and saw results that said not to worry. But upon finding this site, I read about abscesses and immediately panicked. I’m so afraid, lol. His appointment is on the 16th of this month and I will definitely bring it up.

But do you think I should try and push for a sooner date?

I wish I could upload a photo, but apparently the size is too big and I can’t change it on my phone…
If I can figure it out, I will post it asap!

If it’s not growing and it doesn’t look inflamed or infected, his appetite is good, poop good and activity-level normal, I think it can wait until the 16th. Obviously if there’s some sort of flare-up you should call your vet and have him seen urgently. But it’d be good to see a picture of the lip!

In order to upload pictures from a phone you have to go via a third party resource like Photobucket, imgur, Picasa, Google Drive. Here’s a thread with info on how you get the picture to show up on the forums: pictorial

I’ll definitely call them up if it seems to get worse
I’m just so eager, haha. I want him to be okay and it seems the only thing that’ll put my mind at ease is a vet visit, lol.

It looks a little bit like proud flesh to me. That’s excessive granulation tissue that can form around a wound, sometimes a very small wound. It should be removed by a vet. But I’m not quite sure about this, so I hope someone else here have more ideas.

You can of course make a vet appt sooner to get it checked out, worrying is very stressful.
