For all the other people w/ Lionhead bunnies. . . In terms of grooming what do you do for your bunnies?  I have two and one is still little so her fur needs little maintenence, but as for Velvet I’m at a lost as to what to do for his fur.  He hates it when I brush him and would rather go around straggly and yucky looking.  I do my best but his fur is starting to look especially grubby around his chin and whiskers ’cause he enjoys digging in his litter and drinks from a bowl.  Any suggestions?  And how do you groom your Lions?

Felony gets combed out once a week, more if he’s shedding. He’s really good and is find with being handled, so I have no tips on how to groom a fussy bun. Sorry :-/

Hah, I just posted the same question earlier today. Someone suggested to me to brush them while they’re eating. Then they can associate brushing with something good.
Otherwise, I have the same problem with Marlee. Stubborn lionheads..

Karl is a lionhead with just a mane – I keep thinking of all you guys who have full lionheads whenever I comb him. I feel for you

Anyways, I comb Karl once a day, sometimes more. And it is so difficult because his hair seems to be just like if he had gum in the ends….so out of combination of him seeming annoyed with the hair and it being difficult to comb him, I cut his hair yesterday. I actually tried for a mohawk, but don’t tell anyone.

But óther than that, I comb him whenever he comes over to me. Sometimes he runs off straight away as I pull out the comb, other times he lies down and enjoys the grooming. But it took a while to get him to like it. So patience is the key.

I don’t have a lionhead but I wanted to say that I think you who have them have very cute bunnys. Maybe one day I will get one. They are so darned cute. How big do they get in size as far as pounds? The member in this group that has a lionhead named “Mops”, I just love that name. It is so perfect and cute for a little lionhead.

Karl weighs about 1.7 kg = 3.7 lbs.

                  They have the perfect size

Bean’s about 1.5 to 2 lbs. and just about a year old. He’s half lionhead and half jersey wooly. He hates brushing with a passion and no amount of treats will absolve me from “the indignity visited upon his person” (his words, not mine). He’s also equipped with fully functional stink-eye capability. Luckily, his fur remains untangled, so when he seems to be shedding, I run damp hands over him to get the loose fur off and all seems to be good. He’ll let me run my fingers through his fur and I never run into any mats or tangles. All in all he’s a very tidy, well self-groomed guy.

What kind of comb do you guys use?

I use a small tooth comb and a slicker brush for my lionhead bunnies. Chloe tooth purrs when I comb her. She seemed to like it very much. She always gets a raisin afterwards for being a good bunny!

Winstons never really had a problem with me brushing him.

Ok, I’ll try a slicker brush and comb next time. . . =) Thanks.

LOL You actually have the easiest coat imo. Kahlua is my lionhead-double maned, she looks more like a full on angora-it’s not just a mane it’s her whole body.

When she sheds she sheds big fur-like you take a rabbit worth off her-but honestly it’s sooo much less and sooo much easier then regular coats!!
