So my Lionhead/angora mix Nugget is a five – six month old female. When I got her in december, I was told she was almost three months old. She was maybe a little bit smaller than she is now. I have a mini lop and a dutch mix, and she is a lot smaller than them, and they’re fully grown. I am wondering if she will get much bigger because if so, I’ll need to get her a bigger cage. Her cage now is a guinea pig cage, but I let her run around my room quite a bit.
And do all females get dewlaps?

She probably won’t get much bigger. She’ll fill out a bit more, but at six months they’re generally more or less the size they’re going to end up in my opinion.

          How big is the cage?

She will probably not grow too much, but I would still get a bigger cage.
Guinea pig cages are nowhere near large enough for guinea pigs, let alone rabbits.
nope, all females do not get dewlaps. I have found none of my lionheads have.

Females usually start to develop dewlaps between 6 and 12 months, although some don’t get very noticeable ones. And once the rabbit is spayed, dewlap growth stops.

Definitely you’ll want a bigger cage no matter what-the rabbit cages are super small, guinea pig size sounds smaller.

My lionhead is 1.2kg, she’s quite dainty and I think that’s about average for the breed. However I read that lionheads in Europe are much bigger so depends where you live too!

She is literally the size of a fully grown dwarf. I’ve read online that they can get as big as mini lops, and i’ve seen lionheads that are quite large. Either way it doesn’t matter, I’m just concerned about her cage. I got the smaller one when she was a baby because I have a very small apartment and two other rabbits. Now that she is growing its time for a new cage.

Is your ultimate plan to have them all bonded into a trio? If you get new housing, I would do so with the future in mind so you’re not having to buy additional housing later on.

When I can afford to have all three of them neutered I will attempt the bonding process. Hopefully I will be able to give them their own bedroom to roam free. I hate having to keep them in cages. But they do get play time everyday!
