OK. Lint and Mopsimilian have been bonding for two weeks now. Going well, Lint is the boss. Yesterday I let Lint ‘move into’ Mopsimilian’s room, but had to remove him again after a few hours b/c he is conrolling over everything Mops does: Mops can’t go to the bathroom, eat or get comfy  without Lint bothering him. No aggression, Lint is just humping and following him around sniffing…. which makes Mops hop away so he can’t get any of his activities done. Is this a phase?? Lint is a friendly, busy bunny but being with Mops has made him kind of obsessive.

… things are already better today! I think Lint is over his initial excitement of having a bunny friend permanently. So, yes it was a phase to answer my own question!

Thanks, KK! Yes, I made progress. The only thing preventing it in the beginning was the fact that Mops was extremely intimidated by neutral territority, while Lint is comfortable wherever! Mops would just play dead and be very stressed. I compromised by taking the bonding sessions to my patio deck where both rabbits had been before sparately. I figured the outdoors would break the ice between them. I attached two photos, the first is obviously from the first meet in snow and the second is from today inside. They’re not quite there yet, to live together 24/7,  but soon.

This was one of the first sessions.

This is one of the later sessions, a little boring to watch…

Here is Lint eating again and Mops getting nothing. Lint still dominating all food. In fact, he never even liked oranges before he met Mops

Holy cow, I love that little hairdo! And getting all in the camera in the last video, hehe! It looks like the bonding is going well even if Lint is a little bossy right now.

I was getting worried over Lint’s possessiveness with litter box and food, so I put a tray down where Mops sleeps with his ‘pee’ stone (stone that used to be in his litter box and smells like it) in it and also hay for munching, as I remember Mops will pee on bare plastic also, but Lint won’t. I spilled some Nature Promise Pellets on the wooden floor under my bed as well since Lint is mostly concerned with the actual food bowl. I checked later and I found them together peaceably eating…

wow you weren’t kidding about lint being the boss… just look at the start of that last video! At least Mops doesn’t try to fight to be dominant and they can just relax together too.

Yup, you’re doing fine. The fact that both will sit under that place with one another without running away means they want to be together. Just will take a little longer to work out some of the dominance stuff. But they do like one another.

yes, thanks, they do like each other more and more as the days go by

Over the weekend a lot of grooming has gone on, mostly by Mops who will give Lint a full-body make over (badly needed as Lint is molting) lasting ten minutes at times.

I changed their room a bit by adding a narrow tunnel to see if they would share a small space. They do, and now even the litter place!

On Sunday, they were enjoying the sun together ,

until suddenly the weather changed…. I call Mops, my ‘mini musl ox’!

one problem remains: Lint honks when he hops and since he moved into my room where Mops quietly lived before I can’t sleep well because I hear ‘hmmm-hmm’  noises…

Their interaction looks great! Now they have one another, you could perhaps move them out of the room overnight.
