Likes Heights?!

I finished the thrid level of Hammers cage enough for him to have access to it. It still needs some cosmetics on the outside but for the most part its complete. Well Hammer will NOT come down from the top! He does come down to use the potty and eat, so i know he can lol. But as soon as he has done his business and filled his tummy its straight to the top again lol. Like the rest of the cage digust him now and its useless! Geez Hammer it would have been a lot cheaper and easier to just put a SINGLE level up on legs for ya! So ive actually put some hay, pellets and water up there so its not a major in convenience for him now lol. Im not gonna move his litter box because i really rather he use the bathroom room in his cage. But the food and water is really no problem lol. Do you guys think its the new (4 day) or the height? I mean he wont even come out for playtime! I even went as far as to pick him up and bring him out to play, but into the cage and to the top he went!

That was what Fern was like, she loved being at the top of her condo! He probably likes the height and the newness. it will probably wear off after a little while, it did for fern, then he will come out and play again.

My goodness he is stubborn! I just made a ‘boredom buster box’ from the toy test and nothing.. turned his little bun butt around and back to the cage.. up to the top. I need a bun fix! Its been 4 days since he ran around and played, i miss seeing that Im glad he likes his cage and all but.. Im selfish I want time with him! lol

My bunnies also like the top of their cages – my theory is that they like to be able to survey their “kingdom.” Each of my bunnies seems to have a “fave” place to sit in their cages, so Hammer may have just chosen his Its OK, I’m sure that the newness of the area also appeals to him, so I think that soon he’ll probably start spending more time hopping around instead of just sitting up there!

LOL You’re lucky…anything I give or make my bunnies gets me the stinkeye and it gets ignored for days…Sometimes it’s almost a week before they’ll look at a new toy or level !! He’ll get over it and come out

MooBunny, i think thats exactly what Hammer is doing. Watching over his kingdom lol. I didnt think about that before, but now i do remember him simply sitting at the doors and windows just watching. Thats the only level where he can see the whole room so that makes perfect since. so that could be playing a major role here.

Aww KK, thats kinda sad lol. They just must be so spoiled!

My bunnies survey their kingdom, we call the top of the condo ‘Pride Rock’ (Lion King) cause they love it.
We actually blocked it off recently due to a slight malfunction in the design (I fell onto a dowel that hadn’t been sawed off and split open my head) and they’re so mad at us!

TigerLily loves her third floor and is the same way, she comes down for potty or food and thats that. I think its normal bunny behavior.

yes B-Liz… he’ll come around. you have to think that he’s only several inches tall, so when they can get up high i think it probably makes them feel very special. Mead always sits on the back of the couches and “surveys the land”. plus it’s new so it’s like a little kid who gets a new toy and that’s all they want to play with…

Yay! today (6th day!) He came out to play! Im so excited ive forgiven and already forgotten everything he has destroyed/broken/spilled in the last 20 min.! I would go crazy happy to if i was in one part of a cage for 6 days

Edit: Nevermind! Back to the top lol. He was only out playing for around 30-40 min. I hope the new wears off soon, and he realizes the top level is not heaven on earth or anything special lol

Pepper loves heights.  She took over a bookshelf as a lounging space by hopping up from the back of the couch and shoving everything off it.  I’ve also seen her on my dresser and desk as well.
