        Hey all!

so Pearl will come up to me and start licking me for what feels like a long time, then he climbs onto my lap till he is close to my body then pee’s, I don’t get mad when he does this as I do not understand why he does it I just quietly remove myself and I go and clean up and come back changed, I don’t think he likes it when I change.

I have had Pearl since he was 5w old, he is a 9m Holland Lop (Broken Black).  Pearl when younger would lick me and when it is only him out of 6 rabbits he will come and lick me but had stopped peeing on me.  He got neutered last month and he gets along with all the rabbits.  3 girls and 3 boys.  Pearl and Pebble were meant to be girls. oops along came Oopsie and Daizie. Not realizing that they can get pregnant right after she got pregnant again and then came Echo and Shadow.

Pearl and Pebble are fixed. Oopsie and Daizie are scheduled and in April Echo and Shadow will be fixed and hopefully one big happy family.

sorry for being long but thought you should have some history.

anyone out there that knows why he may be doing this please let me know.  Thank You. Sarah and the buns

Usually when bunnies pee on humans or soft things that smell like humans, it is them trying to claim the person or that soft area. Peeing covers your scent with their scent. Hence why we see a lot of complaints about bunnies peeing on beds, etc.

LBJ covered the main points. I’ll also just point out that I truly believe rabbits cant comprehend a human body. Obviously we smell like us, but I doubt a rabbit can actually tell if they’re peeing ON you as opposed to marking something that smells like you.

My bun Bam used to do this with my mum. He adored her. She had a special bunny long skirt when we visited. Maybe he got so comfy in her lap that he didnt feel up to leaving when nature called?

He could also pee on the sofa at home with me, when we had been cuddling for a long time and he was all flat and stretched out alongside me. I remember thinking about various hormones that could perhaps be at play, not necessarily sex hormones, rather hormones like oxtocin and vasopressin. I’m certainly not an endocrinologist, so I havent delved deeper into this. I had to block Bam from accessing the sofa. I did that for several weeks, then the sofa’s existence seemed to have been erased from his mind so I could unblock it. It was a bit sad bc I liked our cuddle sessions.

This time of year even neutered/spayed buns can get (sex-) hormonal, and it has to do with the increase in daylight. Buns can suddenly start up courtship behaviors, like circling and pee-spraying and attempt to mate with f ex feet. It doesnt feel very spring-like where I am, more like mid winter and its cold outside, but just the other week I saw two wild hares chase each other across a field and the great tits (parus major) birds have started to sing, so “March madness” is well on its way. “March hare syndrome” resolves on its own.
