Lulu has been doing a very strange thing for awhile so I thought I would ask you guys about it.

Lulu randomly licks the floor. I know it sounds weird, but for some reason she does! I don’t know why, at first I thought she was trying to find more salt, so I got her a salt lick. The first time I put it in her cage she licked it but she doesn’t touch it any more.

It’s not just one type of floor ( like just wood) Its every thing! linoleum, wood, fleece, towels, carpet, ect.

I am just kinda curious why she does it. Thanks!

Moose does it, smudge does too a bit. They just like grooming stuff, unless its another bunny lol. In my case anyway

My male rabbit, BunBun, licks the strangest things. We have this antique metal kitchen pastry press (I think that’s what it is anyway) and BunbUn gets on the table and licks it. It must taste GROSS, but he just won’t leave it alone. He has a salt lick too, but he really loves antiques. He also likes to chew up old wooden furniture- leaves the cheap new stuff alone but devours the priceless old things. Discriminating taste I guess- lol.

Dutchess does it! I think they just like to do it for whatever reason.

Does it have any rust on it?  Horses LOVE the taste of rust (it’s weird, I know!), and I wonder if some bunnies are the same?

Zeus licks the linoleum flooring, and his ceramic tiles in his habitat, often.

Jersey licks stuff too on occasion. Just hops around, two licks here, two licks there. Maybe a couple for Rumballs head.  She used to lick the fire poker. She’ll lick the carpet after I’ve been petting her sometimes. Rumballs more a chinner. I do notice he kinda snifffs the floor before he goes to loaf. “Yep, this spot seems ok” Plunk! Funny boy.

Hi Bunninnie- I didn’t know that horses liked the taste of rust. And I used to work at stables too- you learn something new every day, especially here! Yeah, bunnies could like it too- they are really similar to horses in some ways- their “prey attitude” like the way they sppok at noises and sights, their frighteningly delicate stomaches, and the way they seem never to forget anything. I guess that’s why they’re my favorite animals- along with hamsters .

I’ve noticed that BunbUn grooms the carpet and his blanket, really whatever he’s laying on, when he feels especially warm and fuzzy about life. Hehe- it’s so cute, it’s like he’s just filled with love and contentment.

Otto licks the couch All. The. Time. I have no idea why they do it, but there must be some taste in the finish (of the floor or the couch) that they like.

Otto even got Hannah licking the couch! She only does it when he’s already doing it – I guess she thinks it must be delicious so she has to try it. haha. They are definitely strange!

I catch my female bunny Hazel licking the floor or a pillow or a sheet sometimes. O.o
