I’ve been out for a while w/ dissertation and vet care. 2 Fridays ago, I took 2 cats (my obese ones) and Jess and Leo to the vet. Everyone had follow ups for health issues except Phoebe the cat. She had some bad looking teeth and a cut lip, so I had to bring her in to make sure it was fine. I had the vet and tech to myself. I had about 1.5 hours booked w/ the vet to see everyone. Here’s my updates:
Leo seems to be recoverying from his teeth surgery all right. He ended up losing a whole pound in the process. He still gets critical care every few days to ensure that he’s putting his weight back on. He’s back to eating veggies & pellets. He’s also started eating his hay, sometimes. He’s on a different antibiotic now and will be for a time. He goes back in a few weeks for follow up re: his teeth.
Jessica still has red pee. The vet is still concerned b/c it started so close to her spay. She stated that dissolving sutures can take a few months to dissolve and that there is always the possibility of complications from that. She is still on antiobiotics and we will follow up in a few weeks.
Max the cat does NOT have cancer! He did not end up getting his toe amputated and instead had some biopsies taken from both toes and his ear. Everything was benign and he will not need any future surgeries or amputations.
Phoebe the cat had to have several teeth pulled out and get a complete dental. She’s lost both canines and a few molars. She looks kind of funny w/o her canines. She’s on antibiotics and pain meds for a while. She’s also showing pre-diabetic blood sugar levels. The docs worried that she may be developing diabetes.
The vet gave all my pets a little lecture on how they need to mind "mommy’s pocketbook" and get all better. I think that w/ all my summer vet care, that they will be able to build a major addition on the clinic. I only hope they will name it after me!
