My 3.5 year old male seems to have a leaky bum!
It used to happen a bit when he was younger but now it’s like that most of the time. Which results in little poo stains on my carpet ?
Any ideas what this is caused by and how to get it to stop?
Also what can I use to clean the stains off the carpet?

        Thanks!

Leaky bum as in pee or poop? I thought it was the pee at first but then you mentioned the poop stains so just wanted to be sure.

If he is dribbling pee then it could be a UTI (urinary tract infection). Have you brought him to a bunny savvy vet before to check his kidneys etc? There’s also a member here (Asriel & Bombur) whose bunny Bombur dribbles due to E. Culi and has to get constant treatment for that.

If you’re talking about poop stains, it could be cecal juice that accidentally got onto the carpet while he was eating his cecotropes. How is his diet like?

For stains you can try a vinegar + water solution. Some people add baking soda to the mix as well.

            Thanks for the reply
            It’s leaky poo ? lol

He had is 6 monthly check last month and everything checked out fine. The vet did say it was probably cecal juice.

So he has unlimited hay and water and mixed greens morning and night. I don’t often give fruit as it upsets his tummy and no pellets

You could cut back on fresh greens, if he’s a good hay eater. Hay and water are the best things for a bunny tummy. You can also give a probiotic to help his gut microbiota. Benebac is often used with rabbits.
